The 9th International RASopathies Symposium

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, Volume 200, Issue 8, Page 1934-1941, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The RASopathies are a group of congenital disorders with overlapping clinical manifestations that are caused by pathogenic germline or early somatic variants that result in the hyperactivation of the RAS/mitogen‐activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway.

Characterization of the diverse plasmid pool harbored by the blaNDM-1-containing Acinetobacter bereziniae HPC229 clinical strain.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Acinetobacter bereziniae is an environmental microorganism with increasing clinical incidence, and may thus provide a model for a bacterial species bridging the gap between the environment and the clinical setting. A. bereziniae plasmids have been poorly

Efficient genome manipulation by variants of site-specific recombinases R and TD

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Biology, 2015
Genome engineering benefits from the availability of DNA modifying enzymes that have different target specificities and have optimized performance in different cell types.

Molecular Ontology Predicts Output Connections From the Nucleus of the Solitary Tract

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 534, Issue 8, August 2026.
The nucleus of the solitary tract (NTS) integrates visceral inputs to coordinate appetite and digestion, breathing, and cardiorespiratory reflexes. Using cell‐type‐specific tracing, we show that excitatory Lmx1b neurons project broadly to brainstem and forebrain targets, whereas inhibitory output remains largely brainstem‐restricted. Catecholaminergic (

Divergent AKT Signalling Mechanisms Regulate GLUT4 Translocation and Glucose Uptake in Skeletal Muscle and Adipose Tissue

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background The serine/threonine kinase AKT is a key regulator of glucose and energy metabolism. Prevailing dogma suggests that AKT is an obligate intermediate for glucose uptake in all metabolic tissues and that impaired AKT signalling is a major molecular driver of insulin resistance in obesity.

SIRT Family: Biological Functions and Therapeutic Targets

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
SIRT1–SIRT7 networks from transgenic mice to human‑relevant therapeutic targets. SIRT1–SIRT7 form an isoform‑, organ‑, and disease‑specific regulatory network. Transgenic Sirt1–7 mouse models define central regulatory SIRTs (SIRT1, SIRT3, SIRT6), context‑dependent modifiers (SIRT2, SIRT4, SIRT5, SIRT7), and their key mechanisms and target organs. These

Single molecule TPM analysis of the catalytic pentad mutants of Cre and Flp site-specific recombinases: contributions of the pentad residues to the pre-chemical steps of recombination

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2015
Cre and Flp site-specific recombinase variants harboring point mutations at their conserved catalytic pentad positions were characterized using single molecule tethered particle motion (TPM) analysis.

Chemogenetic Activation of G12 Signaling Thickens the Epidermis With Enhanced Barrier Function

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2026.
In this study, we investigated the role of G12 signaling in the epidermis using a keratinocyte‐specific chemogenetic approach. Activation of G12 signaling promoted keratinocyte differentiation and enhanced epidermal barrier function by upregulating filaggrin, claudin‐1, and ceramide.

Illuminating the Future of Catecholamine Detection

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 170, Issue 8, August 2026.
Catecholamines such as dopamine and norepinephrine are key signaling molecules in our body. We discuss how fluorescent sensors (carbon nanotube based and genetically encoded) for these molecules in combination with novel imaging methods and kinetic data analysis enable new biological experiments.

Accessory regions and horizontal gene transfer shape the evolution of clonal Colletotrichum nymphaeae infecting strawberry

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 4, Page 2186-2205, August 2026.
Genetic diversity of strawberry‐infecting Colletotrichum isolates. Summary Rapid adaptation in fungal plant pathogens is often attributed to sexual recombination, yet many important pathogens are largely clonal. We investigated how genetic and phenotypic diversity arises in the predominantly asexual fungus Colletotrichum nymphaeae, the main cause of ...
