Summary: Repair of interstrand crosslinks by the Fanconi anemia (FA) pathway requires both monoubiquitination and de-ubiquitination of the FANCI/FANCD2 (FANCI/D2) complex.

Numerical Simulation of Folding and Unfolding of Proteins [PDF]
The thesis examines in detail the folding and unfolding processes of a number of proteins including hbSBD, DDLNF4, single and multi Ubiquitin. Using simplified coarse-grained off-lattice Go model and CD experiments we have shown the two-state behavior of hbSBD protein.

The melanoma-associated antigen 1 (MAGEA1) protein stimulates the E3 ubiquitin-ligase activity of TRIM31 within a TRIM31-MAGEA1-NSE4 complex [PDF]
The MAGE (Melanoma-associated antigen) protein family members are structurally related to each other by a MAGEhomology domain comprised of 2 winged helix motifs WH/A and WH/B. This family specifically evolved in placental mammals although single homologs

These findings elucidate the innovative role of HIC1 as a transcriptional activator in GC, driving the initiation of pyroptosis and enhancing CD8+ T cell infiltration, which has certain novelty and creative significance. Collectively, targeting HIC1 can present an appealing immunotherapeutic strategy to improve outcomes in GC patients.

Protein conformational dynamics and electronic structure [PDF]
Quantum mechanical calculations are performed on 116 conformers of the protein ubiquitin (Lange et al., Science 2008, 320, 1471-1475). The results indicate that the heat of formation (HOF), dipole moment, energy of the frontier orbitals HOMO and LUMO, and HOMO-LUMO gap fluctuate within their corresponding ranges. This study thus provides a link between

Alteration of host cell ubiquitination by the intracellular bacterial pathogen Coxiella burnetii [PDF]
The intracellular bacterial agent of Q fever, Coxiella burnetii, replicates within a phagolysosomelike parasitophorous vacuole (PV) in human macrophages and delivers effector proteins to the host cytosol via a Dot/Icm type IV secretion system (T4SS). The

Role of G{alpha}12 and G{alpha}13 as Novel Switches for the Activity of Nrf2, a Key Antioxidative Transcription Factor [PDF]
G{alpha}12 and G{alpha}13 function as molecular regulators responding to extracellular stimuli. NF-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) is involved in a protective adaptive response to oxidative stress.

IncRNA‐ZFAS1, an Emerging Gate‐Keeper in DNA Damage‐Dependent Transcriptional Regulation
LncZFAS1 plays a crucial role during DNA damage response in mammalian cells. Loss of lncZFAS1 results in deficient DNA lesion removal and reduced cell viability. Mechanistically, lncZFAS1 modulates RNAPII phosphorylation and transcription and thereby promotes both GG‐NER and TC‐NER upon UV damage.

The Expanding Universe of Ubiquitin and Ubiquitin-Like Modifiers [PDF]
The post-translation addition of ubiquitin (Ub) and structurally related polypeptide modifiers to other intracellular constituents is now known to be an important intermediate driving a wide assortment of metabolic and regulatory processes in plants. Although the most common targets are other proteins, conjugation of specific modifiers to lipids and ...
