Mechanism of UDP‐sugar transport into intracellular vesicles [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1986
The mechanism of translocation of UDP‐GlcNAc, UDP‐Gal and UDP‐Glc into intracellular vesicles has been studied using thymocytes whose plasma membranes have been permeabilized with isotonic ammonium chloride. It has been previously shown that the intracellular vesicles have specific carriers for UDP‐GlcNAc and UDP‐Gal.

UDP-galactose 4'-epimerase activities toward UDP-Gal and UDP-GalNAc play different roles in the development of Drosophila melanogaster. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2012
In both humans and Drosophila melanogaster, UDP-galactose 4'-epimerase (GALE) catalyzes two distinct reactions, interconverting UDP-galactose (UDP-gal) and UDP-glucose (UDP-glc) in the final step of the Leloir pathway of galactose metabolism, and also ...

Biosynthesis of UDP-xylose and UDP-arabinose in Sinorhizobium meliloti 1021: first characterization of a bacterial UDP-xylose synthase, and UDP-xylose 4-epimerase [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology, 2011
Sinorhizobium meliloti is a soil bacterium that fixes nitrogen after being established inside nodules that can form on the roots of several legumes, including Medicago truncatula. A mutation in an S. meliloti gene (lpsB) required for lipopolysaccharide synthesis has been reported to result in defective nodulation and an increase in ...

Uridine diphosphate drives myeloid differentiation and functional reprogramming through dynamic transcriptional network [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundExtracellular nucleotides regulate immune responses through purinergic signaling. Uridine diphosphate (UDP), a pyrimidine-derived metabolite, has been shown to accumulate in the tumor microenvironment and modulate T cell activation.

Organization of the Cytoskeleton in Ectopic Foci of the Endometrium with Rare Localization

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2021
(1) Background: Endometriosis is a common pathology of the female reproductive system, often accompanied by pain and decreased fertility. However, its pathogenesis has not been sufficiently studied regarding the role of the cytoskeleton.

UDP-xylose and peroxide inhibited UGDH but not diaphorase staining activity in cultured monolayer FLS. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Cells were from a 23-year old male donor (passage 4). FLS stained for UGDH (A: bright field; B: phase contrast) or UGDH with UDP-xylose (C: bright field; D: phase contrast), diaphorase (E), or diaphorase with UDP-xylose (F).
