Polymorphisms of NKG2D Ligands: Diverse RAET1/ULBP Genes in Northeastern Thais

Immunogenetics, 2009
Unique long 16 (UL-16)-binding proteins (ULBP) or retinoic acid early transcripts-1 (RAET1) are ligands to the activating receptor, NKG2D. The human RAET1/ULBP gene family is identified as ten members (RAET1E to N) with six loci encoding for potentially functional proteins.

A Pedestrian Detection Method Combining I-HOG and Sobel-ULBP Features

Proceedings of the 2020 3rd International Conference on E-Business, Information Management and Computer Science, 2020
The previous Histogram of Oriented Gradient (HOG) and Local Binary Pattern (LBP) feature fusion pedestrian detection method has disadvantages such as sensitivity to noise, serious spectral information loss, high feature dimension and much redundant information, etc.

Parking Space Detection Using Complemented-ULBP Background Subtraction

2019 IEEE 8th Global Conference on Consumer Electronics (GCCE), 2019
Local Binary Pattern (LBP), a popular and effective textural pattern, is considered as a standard local descriptor in most of the vehicle detection systems. It is also used for various pattern recognition systems in different areas. In this paper, Complemented-Uniform Local Binary Pattern (Complemented-LBP) which finds the whole value of the image ...

Illumination Invariant Face Recognition Based on ULBP and SVM

2012 5th International Conference on BioMedical Engineering and Informatics, 2012
Illumination invariant face recognition is a key problem for automatic face recognition system. The proposed method first applies two-degree ULBP to extract illumination invariant feature on multi-block face. Second, our method combines those histogram features into the final identification characteristics in the right order.

Constitutive Expression of ULBP-4 on Monocytes Regulates NK Cell NKG2D Expression [PDF]

open access: yesBlood Advances, 2019
Key Points The NKG2D ligand ULBP-4 is expressed on healthy monocytes. Monocyte ULBP-4 expression regulates NKG2D expression by NK cells.

Soluble ULBP Suppresses Natural Killer Cell Activity via Down-Regulating NKG2D Expression

Cellular Immunology, 2006
NKG2D is an activating receptor that is expressed on most natural killer (NK) cells and CD8(+) T cells. MHC class I-related chain A(MICA) and UL16-binding protein (ULBP) 1, 2, and 3 are well-known ligands for NKG2D. Human gastric cancer cell lines, SNU216 and SNU638 cells which expressed UL16-binding protein (ULBP) were susceptible to NK cells in a ...

Expression of the ULBP Ligands for NKG2D by B-NHL Cells Plays an Important Role in Determining Their Susceptibility to Rituximab-Induced ADCC [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, 2009
AbstractAntibody‐dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) is a major antitumor mechanism of action of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). The aim of this study was to identify tumor‐associated factors which determine susceptibility to rituximab‐induced ADCC.

ULBP-RF: A Hybrid Approach for Malware Image Classification

2018 Fifth International Conference on Parallel, Distributed and Grid Computing (PDGC), 2018
The growing dependence on internet for performing critical activities in every domain has raised serious concerns about the security of the computer systems. Malwares have become a significant threat to computer systems and recently, a massive growth has been observed by experts in the number and sophistication of new malwares.

Multi-color ULBP with wavelet transform in invariant pose face recognition

2011 IEEE International Conference on Signal and Image Processing Applications (ICSIPA), 2011
Variation in pose is one of the main obstacles confronting researchers in the area of face recognition. In this paper, a novel method is proposed to explicitly tackle this problem. Multi-color uniform local binary pattern (ULBP) is introduced for extracting salient features along with wavelet transform.

Cell Surface Organization of Stress-Inducible Proteins ULBP and MICA That Stimulate Human NK Cells and T Cells via NKG2D [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 2004
Cell surface proteins major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I–related chain A (MICA) and UL16-binding proteins (ULBP) 1, 2, and 3 are up-regulated upon infection or tumor transformation and can activate human natural killer (NK) cells. Patches of cross-linked raft resident ganglioside GM1 colocalized with ULBP1, 2, 3, or MICA, but not CD45. Thus,
