Coaxially Electrospun Myocardial dECM‐ Based Nanofibrous Scaffolds Demonstrate Enhanced Cardiomyocyte Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Our coaxial electrospinning system is capable of incorporating decellularized myocardial extracellular matrix in a core‐sheath configuration, creating nanofibrous scaffolds. These scaffolds, in turn, support the maintenance of functional cardiomyocytes adhered to the surface of these bioactive scaffolds.

Metrology for advanced radiotherapy using particle beams with ultra-high dose rates

open access: yesPhysics in Medicine & Biology
Abstract Dosimetry of ultra-high dose rate beams is one of the critical components which is required for safe implementation of FLASH radiotherapy (RT) into clinical practice. In the past years several national and international programmes have emerged with the aim to address some of the needs that are required for translation of this ...

Ultrasensitive Detection of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus Infections Using Multivalent DNA Nanostructure‐Enabled Lateral Flow Assay

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A multivalent DNA nanostructure‐enabled lateral flow assay was developed for rapid, ultrasensitive detection of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) nucleocapsid protein. Designer net‐shaped DNA nanostructures (DNA‐Net) presenting PEDV‐specific aptamers achieved ~1000‐fold enhanced binding, enabling detection of viral copies with Ct ≤ 37.42 within 10

Flash Assembloids: A Rapid Biofabrication of a Platform for Modeling Early Glioblastoma Invasion at the Glioblastoma–Brain Organoid Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a bioengineered assembloid (ASM) system combining glioblastoma (GBM) cells in oxidized alginate (OA) microgels with dorsal organoids (DOs). This model simulates brain tumor‐host interactions, revealing enhanced GBM invasion, altered gene expression, and aggressive infiltration patterns, demonstrating ASM as a valuable platform for ...

First experimental validation of silicon-based sensors for monitoring ultra-high dose rate electron beams

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics
Monitoring Ultra-High Dose Rate (UHDR) beams is one of the multiple challenges posed by the emergent FLASH radiotherapy. Technologies (i.e., gas-filled ionization chambers) nowadays used in conventional radiotherapy are no longer effective when applied ...

Multidimensional Cellular Micro‐Compartments to Model Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Dormancy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is an understudied subtype of breast cancer that is susceptible to late recurrences. In this study, micro‐compartmentalization techniques spanning multiple dimensions, including 2D, pseudo‐3D, and 3D, are integrated to uncover the mechanisms underlying ILC dormancy, revealing the central role of p27Kip1.

A Fully Human Engineered Bone Niche With Endogenous Osteoclastogenesis Reveals Osteoclast‐Dependent Osteomimicry in Prostate Cancer Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A human 3D bone niche integrating osteoblasts and osteoclasts enables co‐culture with prostate cancer cell lines and patient‐derived organoids. The engineered niche (i) models aspects of reciprocal phenotypic regulation between osteoblasts and cancer cells, (ii) captures osteoclast‐enhanced osteomimicry in tumor cells, and (iii) establishes a ...

Preliminary study of luminescence phenomena from various materials under ultra-high dose rate proton beam irradiation for dose management

open access: yesScientific Reports
This research aimed to identify materials capable of emitting visible light useful for dose management at ultra-high dose rate (uHDR). Various materials were irradiated with proton beams at a normal dose rate (NDR) and uHDR, and the resulting surface ...
