Silicon carbide sensors in radiotherapy dosimetry: progress, challenges, and perspectives

open access: yesFrontiers in Sensors
Accurate dosimetry is crucial in radiotherapy and particle therapy to ensure that prescribed doses are delivered to tumors while minimizing damage to healthy tissue. Advanced dosimetry systems are needed to meet the challenges of modern techniques (small

Performance Estimation and Ex Vivo Validation of Untethered Magnetic Robots in Soft Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents an empirical model that quantitatively predicts the step‐out frequency of screw‐type untethered magnetic robots (UMRs) in soft viscoelastic environments, including ex vivo brain tissue. By integrating key parameters into a dimensionless framework, the model enables estimation of robot performance across a range of biological ...

DNA damage and cell death induced by exposure to ultra-high dose rate low-dose pulsed X-rays emitted from a kilojoule plasma focus device

open access: yesBiological Research
Background FLASH radiotherapy, characterized by ultra-high dose rates (> 40 Gy/s), potentially spares normal tissues while maintaining antitumor efficacy (the FLASH effect).

Ferroptosis Suppression by the M6A Reader IGF2BP1 Underlies Gemcitabine Resistance in Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IGF2BP1 promotes gemcitabine resistance in pancreatic cancer by stabilizing m6A‐modified FTH1 transcripts and protecting them in stress granules, thereby suppressing ferroptosis. Pharmacological inhibition of IGF2BP1 disrupts this protective pathway, restores ferroptotic sensitivity, and enhances gemcitabine efficacy in resistant tumors.

Overcoming Drug Resistance by Paclitaxel Resistance in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the murine triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) model, chemotherapy effectively increases tumor neoantigen burden (TNB). Here, the study constructs a liposomal nanovaccine using antigens derived from in vitro chemotherapy‐treated paclitaxel‐resistant TNBC 4T1 cells.

FLASH radiotherapy combined with immunotherapy: From biological mechanisms to blockbuster therapeutics

open access: yesTranslational Oncology
FLASH ultra-high dose rate radiotherapy (RT) can effectively exert the protective effect on normal tissue and reduce the risk of treatment-related toxicity, without compromising the killing effect on tumor tissue, resulting in a significant differential ...

Instantaneous dose rate as a crucial factor in reducing mortality and normal tissue toxicities in murine total-body irradiation: a comparative study of dose rate combinations

open access: yesMolecular Medicine
Purpose The ultra-high dose rate (UHDR) radiation shows promise in eradicating tumors while reducing normal tissue toxicities. However, the biological outcomes of UHDR are influenced by various factors, particularly the mean dose rate and instantaneous ...

Chemotherapy‐Activated GSK3β‐DNMT1 Signaling Upregulates CD47 to Evade Macrophage Phagocytosis and Drive Temozolomide Resistance in Glioblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Temozolomide treatment activates GSK3β, driving DNMT1 phosphorylation, destabilization, and CD47 promoter hypomethylation in glioblastoma. This epigenetic shift upregulates CD47, enabling TMZ‐treated GBM cells to evade macrophage phagocytosis, survive chemotherapy, and acquire resistance.
