Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

A Less Complex Algorithmic Procedure for Computing Gray Codes

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering Research, 2009
The purpose of this paper is to present a new and faster algorithmic procedure for generating the n bi Gray codes. Thereby, through this paper we have presented the derivation, design and implementation of a newly developed algorithm for the generation ...

A Proof of the G\"ottsche-Yau-Zaslow Formula [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Let S be a complex smooth projective surface and L be a line bundle on S. G\"ottsche conjectured that for every integer r, the number of r-nodal curves in |L| is a universal polynomial of four topological numbers when L is sufficiently ample. We prove G\"

Appell polynomials and their relatives II. Boolean theory

open access: yes, 2007
The Appell-type polynomial family corresponding to the simplest non-commutative derivative operator turns out to be connected with the Boolean probability theory, the simplest of the three universal non-commutative probability theories (the other two ...

Re‐Awakening Public Attention to the Silent Pandemic of Cancer Among Older Adults in Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As global populations age, cancer is increasingly becoming a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among older adults, particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Despite accounting for the majority of new cancer cases and deaths, older individuals remain underrepresented in cancer research, clinical guidelines, and health ...

A Novel Reliability Analysis Method for Fuzzy Multi-State Systems Considering Correlation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Fuzzy multi-state systems (FMSSs) exist widely in practical engineering. It is usually difficult to evaluate the reliability of FMSSs because the reliability data is usually fuzzy due to the inaccuracy or imperfection of information, and there is often ...

Shared Genetic Effects and Antagonistic Pleiotropy Between Multiple Sclerosis and Common Cancers

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Epidemiologic studies have reported inconsistent altered cancer risk in individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS). Factors such as immune dysregulation, comorbidities, and disease‐modifying therapies may contribute to this variability.

Trusted measure model for the communication network system

open access: yesDianxin kexue, 2016
The trusted measure model for communication was proposed by computing its value of security, control and survivability with continuous-time reward Markov method. The“state bomb”problem in traditional state analysis method was solved by the way of ...

Magnetic fluctuations in the classical XY model: the origin of an exponential tail in a complex system

open access: yes, 2000
We study the probability density function for the fluctuations of the magnetic order parameter in the low temperature phase of the XY model of finite size. In two-dimensions this system is critical over the whole of the low temperature phase. It is shown

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe
