Determination of Enzyme Kinetic Parameters of UDP-glycosyltransferases

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2013
The determination of enzyme kinetic parameters, such as the Km and kcat values, is an essential part of the characterization of newly discovered enzymes.

In vitro synthesis of particulate glycogen from uridine diphosphate glucose [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1969
Abstract High molecular weight glycogen has been prepared in vitro with liver glycogen synthetase (uridine diphosphate glucose: α-1,4-glucan α-4-glucosyltransferase, EC 2.4.1.11) and branching enzyme (α-1,4-glucan: α-1,4-glucan 6-glycosyltransferase, EC 2.4.1.18) and uridine diphosphate glucose as glucose donor.

Chronic Cellular NAD Depletion Activates a Viral Infection‐Like Interferon Response Through Mitochondrial DNA Leakage

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
Chronic NAD depletion in fibroblasts lowers NAD levels, increases mitochondrial mass, and triggers an interferon‐dependent inflammatory response via mtDNA leakage through VDAC1, activating the cGAS‐STING pathway. This links NAD deficiency to metabolic and inflammatory processes, with implications for diseases associated with NAD decline.

Metabolic profiling reveals coordinated switches in primary carbohydrate metabolism in grape berry (Vitis vinifera L.), a non-climacteric fleshy fruit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Changes in carbohydrate metabolism during grape berry development play a central role in shaping the final composition of the fruit. The present work aimed to identify metabolic switches during grape development and to provide insights into the timing of

Complex engineering of Solanum alkaloids structural diversity in Nicotiana benthamiana

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Transient expression in Nicotiana benthamiana offers a powerful and versatile platform for rapid production of complex specialized metabolites. Steroidal glycoalkaloids (SGAs) and steroidal saponins produced by members of the Solanaceae family are known for their diverse structures and activities including antimicrobial, anticancer, antiviral ...

Regulation of hepatic glucose production and AMPK by AICAR but not by metformin depends on drug uptake through the equilibrative nucleoside transporter 1 (ENT1) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This is the author accepted manuscript. The final version is available from Wiley via the DOI in this record.Aim: Recently we have observed differences in the ability of metformin and AICAR to repress glucose production from hepatocytes using 8CPT-cAMP.

Unveiling the catalytical roles of three glycosyltransferases in triterpenoid saponins in quinoa

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Saponins constitute a class of characteristic compounds within quinoa grains. In this study, metabolomic analysis identified 20 triterpene saponins, the majority of which were exclusively localized within the pericarp. Furthermore, three crucial glycosyltransferases were identified in quinoa.

Metabolic Profile Associated With Encystation in Acanthamoeba

open access: yesJournal of Eukaryotic Microbiology, Volume 72, Issue 5, September/October 2025.
ABSTRACT The genus Acanthamoeba includes widespread protozoa that can cause severe infections in humans. Their ability to form resistant cysts within infected tissues complicates treatment, making it essential to understand the encystation process for developing effective therapeutic strategies.
