Fibrinolysis protease receptors promote activation of astrocytes to express pro-inflammatory cytokines [PDF]
Background Astrocytes contribute to the crosstalk that generates chronic neuro-inflammation in neurological diseases; however, compared with microglia, astrocytes respond to a more limited continuum of innate immune system stimulants.

Elevated plasminogen activators are associated with hematoma progression in spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage [PDF]
Endogenous fibrinolysis might lead to hematoma progression in spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). We studied plasma biomarkers of fibrinolysis and hemostasis in twenty-two patients with ICH and nine healthy controls (HC) in a single-center study.

Staphylococcus aureus proteins Sbi and Efb recruit human plasmin to degrade complement C3 and C3b. [PDF]
Upon host infection, the human pathogenic microbe Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) immediately faces innate immune reactions such as the activated complement system. Here, a novel innate immune evasion strategy of S. aureus is described.

Crystal structure and cellular functions of uPAR dimer
The structural basis for urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR) dimerization is not understood. Here, the authors solve the crystal structure of soluble uPAR dimers, identifying substantial structural changes compared to the monomer.

KAT7‐acetylated and cytoplasm‐translocated G‐protein GαS enhances IL‐6 effect and drives HCC progenitor cell progression. Abstract Background and Aims Hepatocarcinogenesis goes through HCC progenitor cells (HcPCs) to fully established HCC, and the mechanisms driving the development of HcPCs are still largely unknown.

Tyrosine phosphorylation of human urokinase‐ type plasminogen activator [PDF]
Immunoblatting analysis of purified human urokinase plasminogen activator (u‐PA), gives a positive signal when reacted with anti‐phosphotyrosine monoclonal antibodies (MoAb anti P‐Tyr); competition with α‐phospha‐DL‐tyrosine (P‐Tyr) but not α‐phosphia‐DL‐threonine or serine (P‐Treo, P‐Ser) completely suppresses this signal.

Functional, pathogenic, and pharmacological roles of protein folding intermediates
Abstract Protein expression and function in eukaryotic cells are tightly harmonized processes modulated by the combination of different layers of regulation, including transcription, processing, stability, and translation of messenger RNA, as well as assembly, maturation, sorting, recycling, and degradation of polypeptides.

Role of multidomain structure of urokinase in regulation of growth and remodeling of vessels [PDF]
Urokinase type plasminogen activator, or urokinase (uPA), is a multifunctional protein which plays special regulatory role in the vascular wall and can actuate the proteolytic and signal cascades.
