Proteolytic enzyme and adiponectin receptors as potential targets for COVID-19 therapy

open access: yesКардиоваскулярная терапия и профилактика, 2021
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic requires not only the creation of vaccines to prevent the spread of the disease, but also the development of novel drugs aimed at reducing viral load, suppressing an excessive immune response and ...

Future Directions for Active Matter on Ordered Substrates [PDF]

open access: yesEPL 139, 27001 (2022), 2022
Active matter is a term encompassing particle-based assemblies with some form of self-propulsion, including certain biological systems as well as synthetic systems such as artificial colloidal swimmers, all of which can exhibit a remarkable variety of new kinds of nonequilibrium phenomena.

Characterization of the murine plasminogen/urokinase‐type plasminogen‐activator system [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1996
The murine plasminogen/urokinase‐type plasminogen‐activator (u‐PA) system was studied using purified proteins, plasma and endothelioma cells. Recombinant murine u‐PA was obtained as a single‐chain molecule of 45 kDa which was converted to two‐chain u‐PA with plasmin by cleavage of the Lys159‐Ile1 60 peptide bond.

Separation and characterization of nonphosphorylated and serine-phosphorylated urokinase. Catalytic properties and sensitivity to plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Urokinase synthesized by human A431 epidermoid carcinoma cells is phosphorylated on serine (Mastronicola, M. R., Stoppelli, M. P., Migliaccio, A., Auricchio, F., and Blasi, F. (1990) FEBS Lett. 266, 109-114).

Leukocyte- and endothelial-derived microparticles: a circulating source for fibrinolysis

open access: yesHaematologica, 2012
Background We recently assigned a new fibrinolytic function to cell-derived microparticles in vitro. In this study we explored the relevance of this novel property of microparticles to the in vivo situation.Design and Methods Circulating microparticles ...

The chicken urokinase-type plasminogen activator gene

open access: yesFibrinolysis, 1989
The chicken urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA) cDNA and gene have been isolated and the complete nucleotide sequence of each established. cDNA sequence and Northern blot RNA analysis indicate that the chicken uPA mRNA is approximately 2500 nucleotides in size and contains a large 3'-noncoding region (998 nucleotides).

Treatment with a Urokinase Receptor-derived Cyclized Peptide Improves Experimental Colitis by Preventing Monocyte Recruitment and Macrophage Polarization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Leukocyte migration across the blood barrier and into tissues represents a key process in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel diseases. The urokinase receptor (urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor) is a master regulator of leukocyte ...

Soluble urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor and urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor contribute to chemoresistance in leukemia

open access: yesOncology Letters, 2017
The soluble urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) and the urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR) have been proposed as useful biomarkers of tumor progression. Recently, suPAR was associated with chemoresistance in lung cancer. However, its clinical significance in leukemia has not previously been investigated.

Proenzyme to urokinase‐type plasminogen activator in the mouse in vivo [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1985
We have investigated whether urokinase‐type plasminogen activator (u‐PA) is present in the mouse in vivo as the proenzyme or as the active enzyme. u‐PA in extracts of various murine tissues was of a one‐polypeptide chain form with an electrophoretic mobility indistinguishable from purified proenzyme (pro‐u‐PA), as demonstrated by SDS‐polyacrylamide gel

The role of the host—Neutrophil biology

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Neutrophilic polymorphonuclear leukocytes (neutrophils) are myeloid cells packed with lysosomal granules (hence also called granulocytes) that contain a formidable antimicrobial arsenal. They are terminally differentiated cells that play a critical role in acute and chronic inflammation, as well as in the resolution of inflammation and wound ...
