A Biomimetic Porcine Urothelial Model for Assessing Escherichia coli Pathogenicity
Urinary tract infections can be severe, sometimes fatal, diseases whose etiological pathogens are predominantly uropathogenic strains of E. coli (UPEC).

Prior studies suggest that urothelium-released adenosine 5′-triphosphate (ATP) has a prominent role in bladder mechanotransduction. Urothelial ATP regulates the micturition cycle through activation of purinergic receptors that are expressed in many cell ...

TRPA1 channel mediates methylglyoxal-induced mouse bladder dysfunction
Introduction: The transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 channel (TRPA1) is expressed in urothelial cells and bladder nerve endings. Hyperglycemia in diabetic individuals induces accumulation of the highly reactive dicarbonyl compound methylglyoxal (MGO),

Recently, several reports demonstrate that non-neuronal acetylcholine (ACh) release may contribute to various pathophysiological conditions. In this review, we presented our experiments designed to evaluate the non-neuronal cholinergic system in human ...

Mixed epithelial and stromal tumor of the kidney (MESTK) occurs almost exclusively in perimenopausal women while rarely in children. Only five pediatric patients have been described previously. Herein, we report a girl and a boy with MESTK, aged 3- and 4-

BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

We identified a Krt14+ Igf2bp1+ bladder cancer population linked to EMT. Mechanistically, KRT14 stabilizes and transports IGF2BP1 to invasive protrusions, initiating a positive feedback loop that drives metastasis and poor outcomes. ABSTRACT Basal‐type muscle‐invasive bladder cancer (BMIBC) is characterized by aggressive metastasis and poor prognosis ...

Dielectric Elastomer Actuators as Safe and Effective Tools for Mechanostimulation of Human Cells
Replicating physiological forces is crucial for realistic cell models. Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) offer a soft alternative, though their high voltages raised toxicity concerns. We demonstrate that DEA stimulation causes no cell damage, cell death or cell‐cycle disruption, while activating mechanosensitive responses.
