Composite adaptive control of astable UUVs
IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering, 2003Unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) typically operate in uncertain and changing environments. Globally convergent Lyapunov-based parameter-adaptive controllers for six-degree-of-freedom position and attitude trajectory-tracking control of astable UUVs have been successfully derived and applied.

Small Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV) are widespread in research due to their compactness and price. UUVs often come with a sensor suite, compass and pressure sensor, not suited for precise navigation. Automatic guidance of such vehicles is therefore not achievable due to the lack of positional awarness.
