PREVALENCE OF ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANT V. parahaemolyticus AND V. cholerae IN FISH AND HUMANS WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO VIRULOTYPING AND GENOTYPING OF V. parahaemolyticus

open access: yesSlovenian Veterinary Research, 2018
This study aimed to investigate prevalence, virulence determinants, antibiogram and genotyping of Vibrio isolates from retail shrimp and tilapia fish as well as stool samples from gastroenteritis patients in Sharkia Governorate, Egypt. Vibrio spp were molecularly confirmed in 25.5% and 3% of fish and human stool samples, respectively.

Inflammation and disintegration of intestinal villi in an experimental model for Vibrio parahaemolyticus-induced diarrhea. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2012
Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a leading cause of seafood-borne gastroenteritis in many parts of the world, but there is limited knowledge of the pathogenesis of V. parahaemolyticus-induced diarrhea.

Amplification of tlh gene in other Vibrionaceae specie by specie-specific multiplex PCR of Vibrio parahaemolyticus

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Biotechnology, 2015
Background: The surveillance of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in the Chilean coast has been mainly performed by multiplex PCR amplification of three different hemolysin genes, which are specie-specific virulence factors.

Contamination of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in crayfish for sale

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Crayfish (Procambarus clarkii) are economically important freshwater crustaceans. With the growth of the crayfish industry, the associated food-safety risks should be seriously considered.

Interactions between the pathogenic bacterium Vibrio parahaemolyticus and red-tide dinoflagellates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a common pathogenic bacterium in marine and estuarine waters. To investigate interactions between V. parahaemolyticus and co-occurring redtide dinoflagellates, we monitored the daily abundance of 5 common red tide ...

Development of a loop-mediated Isothermal amplification assay for sensitive and rapid detection of Vibrio parahaemolyticus

open access: yesBMC Microbiology, 2008
Background Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a marine seafood-borne pathogen causing gastrointestinal disorders in humans. Thermostable direct hemolysin (TDH) and TDH-related hemolysin (TRH) are known as major virulence determinants of V. parahaemolyticus. Most

Prevalences of pathogenic and nonpathogenic Vibrio parahaemolyticus in mollusks from the Spanish Mediterranean Coast

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2015
Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a well-recognized pathogen of humans. To better understand the ecology of the human-pathogenic variants of this bacterium in the environment, a study on the prevalence in bivalves of pathogenic variants (tlh + and tdh+ and/or ...

Studies on Vibrio parahaemolyticus (V)

open access: yesFood Hygiene and Safety Science (Shokuhin Eiseigaku Zasshi), 1967
In view of the studies on V. parahaemolyticus conducted so far by the present author, the general consideration that all of the organisms occurring in city river-water are brought directly from sea-water environments is thought to be suspectable.Preliminary experiment indicated that the organisms could be isolated from city river-water which was ...

Sero-Prevalence and Genetic Diversity of Pandemic V. parahaemolyticus Strains Occurring at a Global Scale [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2016
Pandemic Vibrio parahaemolyticus is an emerging public health concern as it has caused numerous gastroenteritis outbreaks worldwide. Currently, the absence of a global overview of the phenotypic and molecular characteristics of pandemic strains restricts our overall understanding of these strains, especially for environmental strains.
