Porcine Circovirus Type 2 Vaccines: Commercial Application and Research Advances

open access: yes, 2022
Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) infection can lead to porcine circovirus-associated disease (PCVAD), causing great economic losses to the global swine industry.

Advances and perspectives in animal models of human hepatitis A virus

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Following HAV infection, humans, non‐human primates, and Ifnar1−/− mice develop characteristic manifestations of hepatitis A, including fecal viral shedding, elevated serum ALT levels, and inflammatory cell infiltration in the liver. In contrast, HAV‐infected human liver chimeric mice exhibit fecal viral shedding but do not develop clinical features of

Japanese encephalitis vaccines: moving away from the mouse brain

open access: yes, 2003
Japanese encephalitis (JE) is a severe disease that is widespread throughout Asia and is spreading beyond its traditional boundaries. Three vaccines are currently in use against JE but only one is available internationally, a mouse-brain-derived ...

Proinflammatory Epstein–Barr Virus Antibody Functions Track with Disease Activity in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS). Elevated immunoglobulin G (IgG) titers against EBV nuclear antigen 1 (EBNA1) represent the most consistent serological marker of MS risk, with levels remaining persistently elevated following disease onset.

Comparison of Receptor‐Mediated Endocytosis and Its Application to Enhance DNA Transfection by TFAMoplex

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
We developed an assay to distinguish cellular binding from internalization. Compatible with microscopy and high‐throughput screening, the method identifies ligand‐mediated uptake. Applying top candidates to a protein‐based DNA carrier enhanced transfection efficiency, providing a rational strategy to improve non‐viral gene delivery systems.

Reassortment incompetent live attenuated and replicon influenza vaccines provide improved protection against influenza in piglets. [PDF]

open access: yes
Swine influenza A viruses (swIAV) cause an economically important respiratory disease in modern pig production. Continuous virus transmission and antigenic drift are difficult to control in enzootically infected pig herds. Here, antibody-positive piglets

PEG Alternatives in Liposomal Nanocarriers: Physicochemical Characteristics and Sustainable Process Strategies

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The global trend toward sustainable and intensified bioprocesses is driving innovation in the design and scalable synthesis of liposomal nanocarriers, a cornerstone of modern drug delivery. For decades, these nanosystems have relied exclusively on polyethylene glycol (PEG) for their sustained circulation in vivo, but they are currently ...

Identification Epitope on VP4 Protein of Senecavirus A Recognized by a Monoclonal Antibody

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study aims to identify conserved antigenic epitopes on the SVA VP4 protein using monoclonal antibodies, providing valuable tools for further exploring its functions and developing detection methods. SVA VP4 protein was expressed in Escherichia coli and purified with High‐Affinity Ni‐Charged Resin FF.
