Purification of Vaccinia Virus
THE success attained by chemists in preparing purified or concentrated extracts of tissue containing enzymes and other biological products has stimulated similar attempts upon the tissues of animals infected with filterable viruses.1 2 8 The virus of vaccinia has received considerable attention in this respect, due in part perhaps to the economy and ...

Ocular Vaccinia Infection in Dairy Worker, Brazil
We studied a clinical case of vaccinia virus that caused an ocular manifestation in a dairy worker in Brazil. Biologic and molecular analyses identified a co-infection with 2 isolates from different Brazilian vaccinia virus phylogenetic groups.

A novel high-throughput vaccinia virus neutralization assay and preexisting immunity in populations from different geographic regions in China. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Pre-existing immunity to Vaccinia Tian Tan virus (VTT) resulting from a large vaccination campaign against smallpox prior to the early 1980s in China, has been a major issue for application of VTT-vector based vaccines.

Ribose 2′-O-methylation provides a molecular signature for the distinction of self and non-self mRNA dependent on the RNA sensor Mda5 [PDF]
The 5'-cap-structures of higher eukaryote mRNAs are ribose 2'-O-methylated. Likewise, a number of viruses replicating in the cytoplasm of eukayotes have evolved 2'-O-methyltransferases to modify autonomously their mRNAs.

Relationship between food quality and body size of common vole in different habitats
The body size of the common vole in crop fields (alfalfa, rape, cereals) is larger than in less‐cultivated habitats (forests, clearings, set‐aside) and is not related to food quality. Abstract BACKGROUND There is a close relationship between habitat, food and demographic parameters of common vole populations.

Compact, Synthetic, Vaccinia Virus Early/Late Promoter for Protein Expression
Vaccinia virus, a member of the poxvirus family, is widely used as a mammalian cell expression vector. Vaccinia virus replicates in the cytoplasm and has its own transcriptional system, making it necessary to use viral promoters.

Shared determinants between virus-infected and trinitrophenyl-conjugated H-2-identical target cells detected in cell-mediated lympholysis [PDF]
Infection of H-2-identical mice with either lymphocytic choriomeningitis (LCM) virus, vaccinia virus, or paramyxo (Sendai) virus resulted in the generation of specifically sensitized cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL).

ABSTRACT The antitumor efficacy of an intratumoral injection of a genetically engineered oncolytic vaccinia virus carrying human IL‐7 and murine IL‐12 genes (hIL‐7/mIL‐12‐VV) was demonstrated in CT26.WT‐bearing mice. In the CT26.WT‐bearing mouse model, the efficacy of the combination of hIL‐7/mIL‐12‐VV plus the anti‐programmed cell death protein (PD)‐1
