We estimated climate niche shifts and threat levels under various climate change scenarios for Vaccinium myrtillus L. and V. vitis-idaea L. We developed the MaxEnt species distribution models, and predicted future climatic optima for climate change ...

Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) is a commercially important wild berry species, which accumulates high amounts of polyphenols, particularly anthocyanins, in the skin and flesh. Whilst a number of studies have quantified these phytochemicals in intact ripe

Bilberries (Vaccinium myrtillus) are used to treat non-specific diarrhea and for symptoms related to varicose veins. Because they are quite expensive fruits, quality problems and compositional fraud might occur for dietary supplements.

Chemical Investigation of Vaccinium myrtillus L
Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Scientific ed.), 1954The huckleberry shrub has been subjected to chemical investigation, and several constituents were isolated among which oleanolic and ursolic acids, β-amyrin, myrtillol, and nonacosane were identified. Several fat acids, plant acids, tannins, and sugars were also identified. Hydroquinone, but not arbutin, could be detected.

The Taxonomy of Vaccinium Section Myrtillus (Ericaceae)
Brittonia, 1999Phenetic analyses of 218 OTUs belonging toVaccinium sectionMyrtillus and scored for 13 characters generated five robust clusters.Vaccinium parvifolium is the most distinct cluster, followed by the “myrtillus-scoparium” complex, thenV. membranaceum, V. caespitosum, and the “ovalifolium-deliciosum” complex.

TRANSPIRATION RESISTANCE IN VACCINIUM MYRTILLUS
American Journal of Botany, 1970Measurements of transpiration resistance of Vaccinium myrtillus at various wind speeds indicate that this quantity is relatively insensitive to variations in wind speed in the range normally experienced under field conditions. The resistance is relatively low when compared with values reported in the literature for other plants.
