Sickle Cell Disease: Historical Overview and Current Therapies

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sickle cell disease (SCD) affects millions worldwide, yet the limited treatment options currently available do not always adequately control the disease and carry significant side effects. At present, the only curative treatment is hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) transplantation, a procedure that carries considerable challenges and numerous ...

Structural and Stability Analysis of de Novo Designed Proteins Incorporating a Plant Self‐Incompatibility Motif

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Artificial protein design enables the creation of stable scaffolds beyond those evolved in nature. Incorporation of native functional motifs into de novo scaffolds provides a promising strategy to mimic natural interactions while altering structural frameworks.

Theoretical Analysis of Androstenone Adsorption on Chimpanzee and Gorilla Olfactory Receptors (G‐Protein): Statistical Physics Modeling, Molecular Docking Simulation, and Thermodynamic Investigation

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT An advanced theory based on statistical physics was applied to microscopically investigate androstenone adsorption and its relationship with olfactory perception in chimpanzees and gorillas. For this purpose, dose–response curves of androstenone on olfactory receptors of chimpanzee OR7D4 and gorilla OR7D4 were analyzed by statistical physics ...

Pro‐197 mutations confer resistance to thiencarbazone but not to foramsulfuron in ALS‐resistant Poa annua populations

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Foramsulfuron remains effective on Pro‐197 Poa annua, but co‐formulation with thiencarbazone reduces efficacy due to limited activity and antagonism. Therefore, foramsulfuron + thiencarbazone should be used in fields without ALS‐resistant weeds to ensure effective in‐crop control.
