Model for the NHERF1-induced interaction of Fzd4 and Vangl2.

open access: yes, 2016
(A) Experimental design of the studies described in Panels (B) and (C). We propose that Fzd4 and Vangl2 interact with the PDZ domains of NHERF1. Thus, in the absence of NHERF1, Fzd4 and Vangl2 are expected to interact only weakly; however, NHERF1 ...

Cofilin and Vangl2 cooperate in the initiation of planar cell polarity in the mouse embryo [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cell Science, 2013
The planar cell polarity (PCP; non-canonical Wnt) pathway is required to orient the cells within the plane of an epithelium. Here, we show that cofilin 1 (Cfl1), an actin-severing protein, and Vangl2, a core PCP protein, cooperate to control PCP in the early mouse embryo.

Disruption of Planar Cell Polarity Pathway Attributable to Valproic Acid-Induced Congenital Heart Disease through Hdac3 Participation in Mice

open access: yesChinese Medical Journal, 2018
Background: Valproic acid (VPA) exposure during pregnancy has been proven to contribute to congenital heart disease (CHD). Our previous findings implied that disruption of planar cell polarity (PCP) signaling pathway in cardiomyocytes might be a factor ...

Cell non-autonomy amplifies disruption of neurulation by mosaic Vangl2 deletion in mice

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Mutations that cause tissue mosaicism have been identified in individuals with severe congenital defects. Here, the authors show that mosaic deletion of Vangl2 in the murine neuroepithlium causes spina bifida by preventing apical constriction via reduced

The Intersection of m6A Methylation and Immune Response in PCOS: A Bioinformatics Perspective

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
N6‐methyladenosine RNA methylation regulators are intricately linked with the development of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and may influence immune cell infiltration in affected individuals. This study enhances our understanding of the molecular interactions in PCOS and suggests potential biomarkers for diagnosis and targets for therapeutic ...

NHERF1 promotes plasma membrane localization of Vangl2.

open access: yes, 2016
(A) CHO-N10 cells expressing NHERF1 in a tetracycline-sensitive manner were transfected with HA-Fzd1 and EGFP-Vangl2. The cells were treated with 50 nM tetracycline or vehicle, decorated with anti-HA antibody followed by Alexa 594-labeled secondary ...

A Meta‐Analysis of the Effects of Chronic Stress on the Prefrontal Transcriptome in Animal Models and Convergence With Existing Human Data

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
Chronic stress is linked to many human psychiatric disorders involving the prefrontal cortex (PFC). We performed a meta‐analysis of public transcriptional profiling data that showed that chronically stressed mice have less gene expression for glia and neural activity in the PFC. These findings mirror patterns seen in psychiatric patients.

Rearrangements between differentiating hair cells coordinate planar polarity and the establishment of mirror symmetry in lateral-line neuromasts

open access: yesBiology Open, 2012
Summary In addition to their ubiquitous apical-basal polarity, many epithelia are also polarized along an orthogonal axis, a phenomenon termed planar cell polarity (PCP).

Toward Implantation‐Assisting Technologies: Lessons From In Vivo and Ex Vivo Models

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology, Volume 25, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Despite advances in assisted reproductive technology (ART), embryo implantation remains inefficient and represents a major barrier to successful pregnancy. Recurrent implantation failure persists even after transfer of high‐quality embryos, reflecting an incomplete understanding of the molecular mechanisms governing implantation ...
