Friction compensation of servo system based on terminal switching function

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2013
Based on the LuGre friction model, a sliding mode adaptive controller is presented to compensate for the friction in the servo system. The terminal switching function is selected as the sliding mode surface, which can make the error of the system ...

Duality Theory for Variable Costs in Joint Production [PDF]

open access: yes
Duality methods for incomplete systems of consumer demand equations are adapted to the dual structure of variable cost functions in joint production. This allows the identification of necessary and sufficient restrictions on technology and cost so that ...

A discriminative latent variable-based "DE" classifier for Chinese–English SMT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Syntactic reordering on the source-side is an effective way of handling word order differences. The (DE) construction is a flexible and ubiquitous syntactic structure in Chinese which is a major source of error in translation quality. In this paper,

Structural Quantification of Entanglement

open access: yes, 2014
We introduce an approach which allows a detailed structural and quantitative analysis of multipartite entanglement. The sets of states with different structures are convex and nested.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Schematization and Dynamic Analysis of Mobile Machine. Variable-Structure Systems.

open access: yesМеханика машин, механизмов и материалов, 2008
Approaches for modeling the complex mechanical systems of mobile machines are discussed. Basic definitions related to schematization and dynamic analyses of mechanical systems are justified.

Crystal Structure Prediction via Particle Swarm Optimization

open access: yes, 2010
We have developed a powerful method for crystal structure prediction from "scratch" through particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm within the evolutionary scheme.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Control of nonlinear variable structure systems

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1986
This paper is devoted to the research of different nonlinear control problems with variable structure described by \(\dot x=f(t,x,u)\), \(x(t)\in R^ n\), \(u(t)\subset V\in R^ m\) with sliding manifold \(S(x)=0,S(x)\in R^ m\). Controllability conditions based on Filipov's definition of the solution of ordinary differential equations with discontinuous ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
