CXC chemokine ligand 1 mediates adiponectin-induced angiogenesis in ovarian cancer

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2019
Objectives: Adiponectin is a cytokine secreted from adipose tissue that regulates energy homeostasis, inflammation, and cell proliferation. Obesity is associated with increased risk of various cancers, including ovarian cancer.

Endothelial Dysfunction in Breast Cancer In-Vivo Model

open access: yesProceedings, 2018
Although the endothelial dysfunction is related with tumor development, there is no consensus on the suppressive or supportive effect on tumor growth. The goal of the present study was to evaluate endothelial dysfunction related factors in animal breast ...

Refractory scleroderma renal crisis precipitated after high-dose oral corticosteroids and concurrent intravitreal injection of bevacizumab

open access: yesSAGE Open Medical Case Reports, 2020
Scleroderma renal crisis is a serious complication that can develop in certain patients with systemic sclerosis. Some risks have been identified as potential triggers of scleroderma renal crisis, including the high-dose oral corticosteroids.

Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) regulates trophoblast syncytialization through organelle stress–induced cellular senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The inhibition of mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) impairs syncytialization and induces cellular senescence via mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum stress in human trophoblast stem cells, elevating sFlt1/PlGF levels, a hallmark of placental dysfunction in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Angiogenesis and expression of vascular endothelial growth factor and endostatin protein in myocardial infarction rat model

open access: yesBangladesh Journal of Pharmacology, 2016
The aim of this study was the effects of supplementing qi and herbs that promote neovascularization on angiogenesis and expressions of vascular endothelial growth factor and endostatin protein in experimentally induced acute myocardial infarction in rats.

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.

MicroRNAs Control Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Signaling [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation Research, 2012
Angiogenesis is a very tightly controlled process, in which endothelial cells need to migrate and proliferate toward ischemic tissue. A long-known factor that provides a gradient for endothelial cells to migrate toward is vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF).1 Carefully titrated levels of VEGF are crucial for blood vessel development, because even
