Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

An Immunohistochemical Study of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Expression in Meningioma and Its Correlation with Tumor Grade

open access: yesMiddle East Journal of Cancer, 2018
Background: Meningiomas are one of the most common primary brain tumors and the most common intradural spinal tumors. Vascular endothelial growth factor has been demonstrated to play an important role in the stimulation of angiogenesis in many types ...

Gremlin is a novel agonist of the major pro-angiogenic receptor VEGFR2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The bone morphogenic protein antagonist gremlin is expressed during embryonic development and under different pathologic conditions, including cancer. Gremlin is a proangiogenic protein belonging to the cystine-knot superfamily that includes transforming

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Prognostic value of vascular endothelial growth factor tumor tissue content of colorectal cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A longitudinal study was designed to quantify tumor tissue content of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) and to evaluate its prognostic value in respect to the relapse-free and overall ...

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...
