Vascular endothelial growth factor and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 expression in mdx mouse brain

Brain Research, 2002
Recent data have demonstrated that vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is expressed by subsets of neurons, coincident with angiogenesis within its developing cerebral cortex. In this study, with the aim of elucidating the mechanisms of vascular involvement during brain impairment in Duchenne muscular distrophy (DMD), we have correlated the ...

Endothelial Cell Death and Decreased Expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 2 in Emphysema

American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, 2001
Abstract Emphysema due to cigarette smoking is characterized by a loss of alveolar structures. We hypothesize that the disappearance of alveoli involves apoptosis of septal endothelial cells and a decreased expression of lung vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptor 2 (VEGF R2).

Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor-2 Expression in the Chick Embryo Area Vasculosa

The Histochemical Journal, 2001
Vascular endothelial growth factor is an angiogenic factor in vivo and in vitro that plays a crucial role in the control of blood vessel development and in pathological angiogenesis. The vascularized extraembryonic membranes of the chick embryo include the area vasculosa and the chorioallantoic membrane. In this study, we investigated the expression of

Discovery of Potent Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor‐2 Inhibitors

ChemMedChem, 2009
AbstractSubstantial evidence over the last decades has implicated uncontrolled angiogenesis with various pathological states, including cancer. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) plays a critical role in its regulation. Because the tyrosine kinase VEGF receptor‐2 (VEGFR‐2) is the major mediator of the mitogenic, angiogenic, and permeability ...

Role of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 in the vasodilator response to vascular endothelial growth factor in the neonatal piglet lung

Critical Care Medicine, 2005
Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) regulates vascular proliferation and causes vasodilation. In the pulmonary circulation, the vasorelaxing effect of VEGF has been attributed to nitric oxide, whereas in other vascular beds, prostacyclin and other mechanisms are also involved. This vascular effect follows binding to two receptors, VEGF receptor 1

Vascular endothelial growth factor-A, vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 and angiopoietin-2 expression in the mouse choroid plexuses

Brain Research, 2004
In this study, for the first time, we investigated about the localization of VEGF-A, VEGFR-2 and Ang-2 in the choroid plexuses of the adult mouse by Western blot and immunohistochemistry. Results showed that VEGF-A stained epithelial cells, while anti-VEGFR-2 and -Ang-2 antibodies stained endothelial cells.

Regulation of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor-2 (Flk-1) Expression in Vascular Endothelial Cells

Experimental Cell Research, 1998
We have previously reported the existence of a synergistic interaction between vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in the induction of angiogenesis in vitro. Here we demonstrate that bFGF increases VEGF receptor-2 (VEGFR-2/Flk-1) expression: mRNA levels were increased by 4.5- to 8.0-fold and total protein

Expression and Significance of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 2 in Bladder Cancer

Journal of Urology, 2006
Vascular endothelial growth factor has a critical role in maintaining tumor microvasculature and, as such, is an attractive target for anti-angiogenic therapy. Aberrant expression of VEGF receptors, especially VEGFR2, on epithelial tumor cells allows VEGF to stimulate growth and migration of tumor cells in an autocrine and/or paracrine manner ...

Placental Growth Factor and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor-2 in Human Lung Development

Pediatrics, 2008
OBJECTIVE. We examined the pulmonary expression of 2 proangiogenic factors, namely, placental growth factor and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2, during lung development and acute and chronic lung injury in newborn infants.METHODS. Six groups were included in an immunohistochemical study of placental growth factor and vascular endothelial ...
