Multiple-Attribute Decision Making Based on Interval-Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy Generalized Weighted Heronian Mean

open access: yesInformation, 2022
Due to the complexity and uncertainty of objective things, interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy (I-VIF) numbers are often used to describe the attribute values in multiple-attribute decision making (MADM).

Global Nitrogen Deposition Promotes Carbon Sink Formation in Terrestrial Ecosystems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nitrogen deposition alleviates ecosystem N limitation and enhances carbon sinks. Using 829 observations, we show 36% of deposited N is retained globally (39.15 Tg N yr−1), with distinct NHx and NOy contributions. This retention drives a terrestrial C sink of 0.88 Pg C yr−1 (25.48%), highlighting the importance of pool‐specific C:N stoichiometry ...

Lineage-Specific Viral Hijacking of Non-canonical E3 Ubiquitin Ligase Cofactors in the Evolution of Vif Anti-APOBEC3 Activity

open access: yesCell Reports, 2015
HIV-1 encodes the accessory protein Vif, which hijacks a host Cullin-RING ubiquitin ligase (CRL) complex as well as the non-canonical cofactor CBFβ, to antagonize APOBEC3 antiviral proteins.

Beyond the Ban—Shedding Light on Smallholders' Price Vulnerability in Indonesia's Palm Oil Industry

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Indonesian government imposed a palm oil export ban in April 2022 to address rising cooking oil prices. This study explores oil palm smallholders' vulnerability to the policy using descriptive statistics, Lasso, and post‐Lasso OLS regressions.

Fab-based inhibitors reveal ubiquitin independent functions for HIV Vif neutralization of APOBEC3 restriction factors.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2018
The lentiviral protein Viral Infectivity Factor (Vif) counteracts the antiviral effects of host APOBEC3 (A3) proteins and contributes to persistent HIV infection.

Vpr14-88-Apobec3G fusion protein is efficiently incorporated into Vif-positive HIV-1 particles and inhibits viral infection. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2008
APOBEC3G (A3G), a deoxycytidine deaminase, is a potent host antiviral factor that can restrict HIV-1 infection. During Vif-negative HIV-1 replication, A3G is incorporated into HIV-1 particles, induces mutations in reverse transcribed viral DNA and ...

Adapting to Changing Rainfall and Developing Off‐Farm Employment: Implications for the Adoption of Direct Seeding in Rice Production

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rice is the main staple food for more than half of the world's population and the income from rice is an essential source for livelihoods of millions of households. We examine whether direct seed in rice production is an adaptation of rice farmers to rainfall changes and farm labor scarcity.

Determinants of local food producer participation in state‐sponsored marketing programs: Evidence from Missouri

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
Abstract This study examines producer participation choices considering a variety of potential benefits linked to state‐sponsored marketing programs, using a real choice dataset of farmers in Missouri. Multinomial logit models are employed to predict determinants of farmer enrollment in three tiers of the Missouri Grown local food marketing program ...

Who Are the Consumers of European Farmers' Markets? A Cross‐Country Analysis

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT With substantial growth in the number of farmers' markets (FMs) in developed countries, the number of consumers visiting FMs is also increasing. This study comparatively assesses the consumers of FMs in three European countries where FMs traditionally play a distinctive role in food supply chains.

HIV-1 Vif Triggers Cell Cycle Arrest by Degrading Cellular PPP2R5 Phospho-regulators

open access: yesCell Reports, 2019
Summary: HIV-1 Vif hijacks a cellular ubiquitin ligase complex to degrade antiviral APOBEC3 enzymes and PP2A phosphatase regulators (PPP2R5A–E). APOBEC3 counteraction is essential for viral pathogenesis.
