Virus-Induced Chaperone-Enriched (VICE) domains function as nuclear protein quality control centers during HSV-1 infection. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2009
Virus-Induced Chaperone-Enriched (VICE) domains form adjacent to nuclear viral replication compartments (RC) during the early stages of HSV-1 infection.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Multi-Faceted Roles of Stress Granules in Viral Infection

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Stress granules (SG), dynamic cytoplasmic condensates formed via liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS), serve as a critical hub for cellular stress adaptation and antiviral defense.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Inclusion body myositis, viral infections, and TDP-43: a narrative review

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Medicine
AbstractThe ubiquitous RNA-processing molecule TDP-43 is involved in neuromuscular diseases such as inclusion body myositis, a late-onset acquired inflammatory myopathy. TDP-43 solubility and function are disrupted in certain viral infections. Certain viruses, high viremia, co-infections, reactivation of latent viruses, and post-acute expansion of ...

Inclusões intracitoplasmáticas hialinas na medular da adrenal de bovinos

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, 2011
Cytoplasmic inclusion bodies in adrenal medullary chromaffin cells have been described in various species including humans. These inclusions are believed to be related to certain infectious, toxic and neurodegenerative diseases.

Selection and verification of antibodies against the cytoplasmic domain of M2 of influenza, a transmembrane protein

open access: yesmAbs, 2020
Interactions between the cytoplasmic domains of viral transmembrane proteins and host machinery often determine the outcome of viral infection. The M2 protein of influenza A has been identified as a key player in autophagy-mediated viral replication ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Mechanisms of active diffusion of vesicular stomatitis virus inclusion bodies and cellular early endosomes in the cytoplasm of mammalian cells.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Viral and cellular particles too large to freely diffuse have two different types of mobility in the eukaryotic cell cytoplasm: directed motion mediated by motor proteins moving along cytoskeletal elements with the particle as its load, and motion in ...
