Emergence of Ceftazidime‐Avibactam‐Induced KPC Variants (KPC‐25/127) in Intracranial Infection and Implications for Clinical Management

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, August 2026.
Novel KPC‐25 and first‐reported KPC‐127 sequentially evolved in one patient under CAZ‐AVI pressure, distinct mutations remodel enzyme activity to drive differential multidrug resistance. ABSTRACT The emergence of novel Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) variants contributing to clinical treatment failure poses a substantial threat to public ...

GcrR in Streptococcus mutans Inhibits the Morphological Transition of Candida albicans Through Ras1–cAMP/PKA Pathway in the Cross‐Kingdom Biofilms

open access: yesMolecular Oral Microbiology, Volume 41, Issue 4, Page 188-200, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The dual‐species biofilms formed by Streptococcus mutans and Candida albicans exhibit enhanced cariogenic potential due to the production of extracellular polysaccharides (EPSs). The response regulator GcrR in S. mutans negatively regulates EPS synthesis, but its impact on dual‐species biofilms remains unclear.

Development of Quorum Sensing Modulators of Streptococcus constellatus

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.
Using a rational design approach, novel Streptococcus constellatus competence stimulating peptide (CSP) analogs with enhanced potencies were developed. These newly identified CSP analogs provide a rational framework for the development of CSP‐based quorum sensing modulators with translational potential in attenuating virulence processes in this ...

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 7, Page 1271-1292, July 2026.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Dietary Polyphenols as Natural Modulators of NF‐κB Signaling in Inflammation‐Driven Non‐Communicable Diseases: Focus on Cancer

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
Dietary polyphenols and phytochemicals suppress NF‐κB signaling. Mechanistically, by inhibiting IκBα degradation and preventing nuclear translocation of p65/p50 complexes, the polyphenols reduce the expression of pro‐inflammatory and pro‐survival genes, thereby decreasing overall cancer cell survival.
