Exploring Associations of Different Types of Childhood Trauma With Symptomatology in Irritable Bowel Syndrome

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
The current cross‐sectional study aimed to elucidate the impact of different types of childhood trauma on IBS symptomatology. Our findings strongly support the significant role of childhood trauma in IBS pathology and indicate the specific relevance of emotional abuse influencing not only gastrointestinal symptoms but also extraintestinal and ...

Intestinal metabolite homocysteine participates in the regulation of irritable bowel syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesJichu yixue yu linchuang
Objective To investigate the role of homocysteine (Hcy) in the pathogenesis of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and its effects on intestinal motility, visceral hypersensitivity, and barrier function.

Antinociceptive effect of berberine on visceral hypersensitivity in rats

open access: yesWorld Journal of Gastroenterology, 2013
To assess the protective effect of berberine administration and the role of nitric oxide (NO) in visceral hypersensitivity.Fifty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to five groups. An inflammatory bowel disease model was induced in rats by intracolonic instillation of 1 mL 4% acetic acid at 8 cm proximal to the anus for 30 s and restraint ...

Beyond Malabsorption: The Need for Symptom‐Based Assessment in Suspected Lactose Intolerance. Lessons From a Test‐Specific Symptom Assessment

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
Breath test–proven malabsorption does not reliably predict symptoms. Many patients without malabsorption still develop significant symptoms. Symptoms after lactose ingestion are linked to fructose sensitivity and functional GI disorders. Validated, test‐specific symptom assessment is required to identify patients who may benefit from treatment ...

Effects of Electroacupuncture at ST36 on Visceral Pain and Inflammatory Markers in IBS Rats

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
Electroacupuncture (EA) at ST36 significantly reduced visceral pain and colonic inflammation in IBS model rats. EA increased pain thresholds, lowered AWR scores, and downregulated key inflammatory mediators (IL‐1β, IL‐6, TNF‐α, TRPV1, NF‐κB). These findings highlight ST36‐targeted EA as a promising therapeutic strategy for IBS visceral hypersensitivity

Effect of Linaclotide on Colonic Motility Assessed With Intraluminal Colonic High‐Resolution Manometry in Healthy Subjects. An Acute, Open Label, Randomized, Crossover, Reader‐Blinded Study

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
Our study showed that, in healthy controls, acute administration of linaclotide increased the total number of long‐distance propagating and the pre‐prandial pancolonic pressurizations. Further studies need to address whether the observed effects are directly or indirectly mediated by the mechanism of action of this useful medication to treat chronic ...

Brain functional connectivity is associated with visceral sensitivity in women with Irritable Bowel Syndrome

open access: yesNeuroImage: Clinical, 2017
Increased perception of visceral stimuli is a key feature of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). While altered resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) has been also reported in IBS, the relationship between visceral hypersensitivity and aberrant rsFC is

Haplotype‐Resolved Genome Assembly and Population Genomics Reveal Evolutionary History and Agronomic Traits of Mulberry

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mulberry is a representative economic tree species valued for both poverty alleviation and medicinal use. To advance the understanding of mulberry genomics and demography, we assembled high‐quality haploid genomes of two widely cultivated mulberry varieties NS14 and QS1, and analysed 376 accessions from 12 countries, including 39 ancient trees

Dissecting the Cell‐Type‐Specific Response to an Emerging Tobamovirus in Tomato Reveals Cultivar‐Dependent Involvement of Brassinosteroid Signalling

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plant viruses drive widespread crop epidemics, yet the host plant responses across different cell types, particularly how these responses are influenced by cultivars with varying genetic backgrounds, including the presence of resistance (R) genes, remain poorly understood. Using tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) and two tomato cultivars,

Living in the Mycelial World

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView.
Abstract This manuscript documents a systematic ethnomycological analysis of ethnographic archives. Focusing on texts describing human–fungi interactions, I conduct a global, cross‐cultural review of mushroom use, covering 193 societies worldwide. The study reveals diverse mushroom‐related cultural practices, emphasizing the significance of fungi ...
