The quarantine window: Atmospheres and anguish at the COVID‐19 borderlands

open access: yesArea, EarlyView.
Abstract In this paper we want to consider border atmospheres—what we understand as the material‐affective and emotional expressions of feeling in the dispersed borderlands of COVID quarantine spaces—through the quarantine hotel window. While the quarantine hotel is a seemingly more benign extension or expansion of the medico‐political border through ...

NePO: Neural Point Octrees for Large‐Scale Novel View Synthesis

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We introduce Neural Point Octrees (NePOs), a scalable radiance field representation that organises point clouds hierarchically for efficient optimisation and rendering of large scale scenes. NePOs enable level of detail selection, joint refinement of appearance and camera poses, and real‐time rendering of hundreds of millions of points.

Gentrification Everywhere? Delinking Culture‐Led Regeneration From Gentrification

open access: yesThe Developing Economies, EarlyView.

ViSTA-SLAM: Visual SLAM with Symmetric Two-view Association

open access: yes
We present ViSTA-SLAM as a real-time monocular visual SLAM system that operates without requiring camera intrinsics, making it broadly applicable across diverse camera setups. At its core, the system employs a lightweight symmetric two-view association (STA) model as the frontend, which simultaneously estimates relative camera poses and regresses local

Evaluating associations of migraine‐related vertigo

open access: yesHeadache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective We set out to examine detailed phenotypic data from our clinic for associations of vertigo in chronic migraine. Background Vertigo is a non‐canonical, common symptom of migraine. Little is known about its associations with other symptoms within the migraine phenotype.
