A review article on neuroprotective, immunomodulatory, and anti-inflammatory role of vitamin-D3 in elderly COVID-19 patients

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Neurology, Psychiatry and Neurosurgery, 2023
Vitamin D3 is a secosteroid, broad-spectrum immunomodulatory, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory hormone produced either by the internal subcutaneous pathway in the presence of ultraviolet B (UVB) rays or by the external pathway in the form of ...

Long-Lived States of Methylene Protons in Achiral Molecules [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
It is shown that long-lived states (LLS) involving pairs of methylene protons in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) can be readily excited in common molecules that contain two or more neighboring CH$_2$ groups. Accessing such LLS does not require any isotopic enrichment, nor does it require any stereogenic centers to lift the chemical equivalence of CH ...

Self-consistent approach to deformation of intruder states in neutron-deficient Pb and Po [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Lett. B569 (2003) 151-158, 2003
We present systematic calculations of the properties of 11- isomers in neutron-deficient 184-198Pb and 188-200Po. These states are based on the proton (h9/2 i13/2)_{K = 11-} configuration. They are calculated in the framework of the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov method with a Skyrme interaction and density-dependent pairing force.

Pharmacokinetics and efficacy of oral versus intravenous mixed-micellar phylloquinone (vitamin K-1) in severe acute liver disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Background/Aims: In patients with severe acute liver dysfunction, i.v. phylloquinone (vitamin K-1) may be given to exclude vitamin K deficiency, rather than impaired hepatic synthesis of coagulation factors alone, as the cause of the coagulopathy ...

Intraoral Drug Delivery: Bridging the Gap Between Academic Research and Industrial Innovations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intraoral drug delivery offers a promising route for systemic and localized therapies, yet challenges such as enzymatic degradation, limited permeability, and microbial interactions hinder efficacy. This figure highlights innovative strategies—mucoadhesive materials, enzyme inhibitors, and permeation enhancers—to overcome these barriers.
