1,25 (OH)(2) Vitamin D-3 (VD3) and retinoic acid (RA) function as ligands for nuclear receptors which regulate transcription, Though the cardiovascular system is not thought to represent a classical target for these ligands, it is clear that both cardiac

Microbial Odorant Detection Guides Drosophila Parasitoids Seeking Hosts in Fermenting Fruits
Yeast microbes in fermenting fruits attract both host flies and their parasitoid wasps. Female Leptopilina boulardi detect yeast‐emitted ethyl esters via two olfactory receptors, LbouOR167 and LbouOR136. A conserved residue, Leu159, is critical for binding these compounds, enabling female wasps to locate host‐rich habitats.

Vitamin D and Female Reproduction

Dual priming with minocycline and photodynamic priming reprograms the pancreatic tumor microenvironment to overcome chemoresistance. By suppressing DNA repair enzyme Tdp1, inducing photooxidative damage, and enhancing irinotecan delivery via light‐activated nanoencapsulation, this strategy remodels the tumor microenvironment and drives immune ...

Developmental Vitamin D Deficiency and the Vitamin D Receptor Control Hematopoiesis
Abstract Vitamin D status, the vitamin D receptor (VDR), and the ability to produce active vitamin D [1,25(OH)2D, regulated by Cyp27b1] regulate fetal and adult hematopoiesis. Transgenic reporter mice that express the tdTomato RFP as an indication of Vdr expression were used to identify immune cells that express the Vdr.

Vitamin D Levels in Subjects with Prostate Cancer Compared to Age-Matched Controls
Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most common cancer in men worldwide and the second leading cause of cancer deaths in men in the United States. Vitamin D is considered to have anticancer properties, currently thought to work mainly through its nuclear

Biosynthesis of Sciadonic Acid Derived from Gymnosperms with Anti‐Colitis Activity
This study establishes an efficient Yarrowia lipolytica platform for unusual sciadonic acid (SCA) production and assess the anti‐colitis efficacy in mice of SCA, supporting its potential as a novel therapeutic lipid. ABSTRACT Sciadonic acid (SCA), Δ5‐unsaturated fatty acid with anti‐inflammatory and lipid‐regulatory properties, is predominantly derived

According to recent data, vitamin D is classified as a substance with hormonal activity, which, in addition to classical, has “non-classical” effects caused by the complex relationship between vitamin D and effector cells of the immune system.
