VLDL Biogenesis and Secretion

open access: yesCirculation Research
The production and secretion of VLDLs (very-low-density lipoproteins) by hepatocytes has a direct impact on liver fat content, as well as the concentrations of cholesterol and triglycerides in the circulation and thus affects both liver and cardiovascular health, respectively. Importantly, insulin resistance, excess caloric intake, and lack of physical

Clinical, biological and cytometric characteristics of two patients with a homozygous A91V PRF1 mutation

open access: yesClinical &Translational Immunology, Volume 15, Issue 3, 2026.
Familial haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (FHL) is a rare, inherited granzyme–perforin system defect that predisposes individuals to haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis. This article presents two original case reports of FHL type 2, along with a comprehensive literature review. Together, these elements aim to enhance the current understanding of FHL

Does Walnut Supplementation Have Favourable Effect Apolipoprotein A, B and Blood Pressure? A Systematic Review, Meta‐Analysis and Meta‐Evidence of Randomised Clinical Trials

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 2, March 2026.
This meta‐analysis of 25 randomised controlled trials demonstrates that walnut consumption significantly lowers apolipoprotein B levels while showing no significant effects on apolipoprotein A1, systolic blood pressure, or diastolic blood pressure. ABSTRACT Backgrounds Many randomised controlled trials (RCTs) have revealed the benefits of walnut on ...

Salvadora persica Fruit Methanolic Extract, Nutritional Profiling, Therapeutic Potential in High‐Fat Diet‐Induced Hyperlipidemic Rats: In Vivo, In Vitro, and In Silico Approaches

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
Salvadora persica methanolic extract exhibited strong antioxidant, hypolipidemic, and hypoglycemic effects in high‐fat diet‐induced hyperlipidemic rats. In vitro antioxidant assays, GC–MS profiling, and in vivo studies confirmed improvements in the lipid profile and in markers of oxidative stress, liver, and kidney function.

Salvianolic Acid B Alleviates MAFLD by Targeting PPAR‐α: Mechanistic Insights From Network Pharmacology and Lipidomics

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
Salvianolic acid B (SALB) is the major water‐soluble bioactive constituent of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, a traditional Asian health‐promoting food, while its therapeutic potential and molecular mechanisms in the pathogenesis of MAFLD remain largely unclear.

Cannabis and Alcohol Use and Their Effects on Hematological and Biochemical Parameters: Evidence From the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Ghana

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Substance use, particularly cannabis and alcohol consumption, presents a growing public health challenge in Ghana, with significant implications for both mental and physical health. While the adverse psychological effects of these substances have been extensively studied, their biochemical impact remains inadequately explored ...

Neuronal Extracellular Vesicles Carrying APOE Downregulate Filament Actin Polymerization Signaling to Inhibit Synapse Formation in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 3, March 2026.
During AD progression, EVs derived from APP/PS1 neurons transport APOE into healthy neurons, potentially interacting with neuronal APOE receptors (LRP1, LDLR, VLDLR) to transduction the signaling. This signaling inhibits Rac1‐GTP activation and subsequently downregulates F‐actin polymerization through the Rac1‐N‐WASP‐Arp2/3 pathway.

Biomarkers for the estimation of isoproterenol‐induced myocardial infarction: A review of key parameters

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Medicine, Volume 3, Issue 1, Page 47-68, March 2026.
Abstract The isoproterenol‐induced myocardial infarction model is a well‐established experimental approach for studying cardiac injury and testing potential protective treatments. By overstimulating beta‐adrenergic receptors, this model closely reproduces key features of human heart attacks, including oxidative damage, calcium imbalance, inflammatory ...

Untargeted Proteomics Profiling of Liver and Plasma in Fed and Fasted Liver‐Specific Glycogen Storage Disease Type Ia (GSD Ia) Mice: Toward Potential Protein Biomarkers

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 49, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Glycogen storage disease type Ia (GSD Ia) is a rare autosomal recessive inherited disorder of carbohydrate metabolism, caused by a deficiency in glucose 6‐phosphatase‐α (G6PC1). Patients primarily suffer from failure to thrive, hepatomegaly, and severe fasting intolerance, biochemically characterized by hypoketotic, hypoglycemia, and ...
