Is hypertriglyceridemic very low density lipoprotein a precursor of normal low density lipoprotein?
The precursor-product relationship of very low density (VLDL) and low density lipoproteins (LDL) was studied. VLDL obtained from normal (NTG) and hypertriglyceridemic (HTG) subjects was fractionated by zonal ultracentrifugation and subjected to in vitro ...

A real‐world model of structured animal product restriction practiced for religious reasons reveals the dynamic adaptability of the human gut microbiome to dietary change and uncovers reductions in diversity and rare taxa loss. Integrated microbiome, metabolomic, and proteomic analyses uncover coordinated taxonomic and molecular shifts and identify ...

Characterization of very low density lipoprotein from Watanabe heritable hyperlipidemic rabbits.
We investigated the properties of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) from two types of Watanabe heritable hyperlipidemic (WHHL) rabbits: one with a high incidence of coronary atherosclerosis (type 1), and the other with a low incidence (type 2).

Dysfunctional VLDL metabolism in MASLD [PDF]
AbstractLipidomics has unveiled the intricate human lipidome, emphasizing the extensive diversity within lipid classes in mammalian tissues critical for cellular functions. This diversity poses a challenge in maintaining a delicate balance between adaptability to recurring physiological changes and overall stability.

The results showed that the reduction of plasma 24‐hydroxycholesterol (24‐OHC) was related to the cognitive decline in elderly surgical patients. Neuroinflammation induced by anesthesia and surgery significantly downregulated SREBP2 in hippocampal reactive astrocytes, resulting in reduced cholesterol synthesis.

Our previous studies showed that very low density lipoproteins, Sf 60-400 (VLDL), from hypertriglyceridemia subjects, but not VLDL from normolipemic subjects, suppress HMG-CoA reductase activity in normal human fibroblasts.

Quantitative proteomics identifies clusterin as a novel biomarker for atherosclerosis
This schematic illustrates the proposed mechanism. In advanced atherosclerotic lesions, upregulated CLU on the cell surface activates low‐density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor‐related protein 1 (LRP1). This interaction triggers the phosphorylation and activation of AKT.

Dyslipidemia in obesity results from excessive production and impaired clearance of triglyceride-rich (TG-rich) lipoproteins, which are particularly pronounced in the postprandial state. Here, we investigated the impact of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) surgery on postprandial VLDL1 and VLDL2 apoB and TG kinetics and their relationship with insulin ...

Dietary RSO supplementation improved growth performance, simultaneously enriched n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n‐3 PUFA), and enhanced antioxidant capacity in Pekin ducks, which suggested that RSO has the potential to be a novel n‐3 PUFA source and an antioxidant for Pekin ducks to generate animal functional foods.
