Minkowski dimension and explicit tube formulas for $p$-adic fractal strings
The local theory of complex dimensions describes the oscillations in the geometry (spectra and dynamics) of fractal strings. Such geometric oscillations can be seen most clearly in the explicit volume formula for the tubular neighborhoods of a $p$-adic ...

Optimizing Scan Homogeneity for Building Full-3D Lidars based on Rotating a Multi-Beam Velodyne Rangefinder [PDF]
Multi-beam lidar (MBL) scanners are compact, light, and accessible 3D sensors with high data rates, but they offer limited vertical resolution and field of view (FOV). Some recent robotics research has profited from the addition of a degree-of-freedom

Abstract Objective The thalamus is a key hub in seizure propagation, and its nuclei are emerging targets for neuromodulation. However, the contributions of individual nuclei to epileptic networks remain unclear, particularly in children, who are less studied than adults.

ABSTRACT Background Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) is one of the most common nonmelanoma skin cancers, with increasing incidence globally. Beta genus human papillomaviruses (β‐HPVs), particularly in immunocompromised individuals, have been implicated in the development of cSCC. However, the strength of association between β‐HPV seropositivity

Voice and Speech in Atypical Parkinsonian Disorders
Background Motor speech disorders are early, common, and functionally limiting features of atypical parkinsonian disorders (APDs) such as progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), corticobasal syndrome (CBS), and multiple system atrophy (MSA). These impairments are underrecognized and undertreated in neurology clinics.

Production of Norovirus VLPs to size homogeneity
Expression of full-length major capsid protein of Noroviruses (NoVs) in sf9 cells using recombinant baculovirus expression system leads to the formation of virus-like particles (VLPs) with two sizes. In our pursuit of VLPs with uniform sizes, we find that N terminal truncated capsid protein formed primary VLPs with an average size of 21 nm.

Background The elderly are at high risk from influenza, in part because immunity wanes with age and through the accumulation of comorbidities. A novel plant-derived virus-like-particle (VLP) vaccine bearing influenza hemagglutinin can induce a balanced ...
