Control of superluminal transit through a heterogeneous medium
We consider pulse propagation through a two component composite medium (metal inclusions in a dielectric host) with or without cavity mirrors. We show that a very thin slab of such a medium, under conditions of localized plasmon resonance, can lead to ...

Finite Volume Method for Nonlinear Transmission Problems [PDF]
In this paper we study the approximation of solutions to nonlinear transmission problems in the Discrete Duality Finite Volume framework. We extend the analysis of the m-DDFV schemes introduced in a previous work to more general nonlinear elliptic problems like bimaterial problems arising in elastic-plastic mechanics studied by Liu in 1999.

Selective WGA uptake in the hippocampus from the locus coeruleus of DBH-WGA transgenic mice
We generated transgenic mice in which a transsynaptic tracer, wheat germ agglutinin (WGA), was specifically expressed in the locus coeruleus neurons under the control of the dopamine-β-hydroxylase gene promoter. WGA protein was produced in more than 95%

Coupling Green-Ampt and Saint-Venant Equations for Estimating of Transmission Losses during Flood Routing in Rivers [PDF]
Volume of flooding flow volume in ephemeral streams decreases due to evaporation as well as the channel wall and bed penetration. This process is known as transmission losses.

A geographic routing protocol based on trunk line in VANETs
A Trunk Line Based Geographic Routing(TLBGR) protocol in Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) is proposed in this paper to solve the problem of data acquisition in the traditional trunk coordinated control system.

Strong photo-absorption by a single quantum wire in waveguide-transmission spectroscopy
We measured the absorption spectrum of a single T-shaped, 14x6 nm lateral-sized quantum wire embedded in an optical waveguide using waveguide-transmission spectroscopy at 5 K. In spite of its small volume, the one-dimensional-exciton ground state shows a

Volume Transmission in the Brain: Beyond the Synapse [PDF]
A better understanding of volume transmission is important in neuropsychiatry, as this is now believed to be a major mode of action for many neuroactive substances, including the modulatory neurotransmitters and many psychiatric medications.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
