Monitoring of the Oxidation–Reduction Potential and Its Effects on the Chemical Composition of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre Wines and Their Blends

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Grape and Wine Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Oxidation–reduction potential (ORP) is frequently used as an indicator of oxygen exposure during red wine fermentation, but its role as a control variable across grape varieties and blending is not understood. In this study, alcoholic fermentations of Grenache (GR), Syrah (SY), and Mourvèdre (MO) were conducted in quadruplicate under three ORP ...

Std fimbriae-fucose interaction increases Salmonella-induced intestinal inflammation and prolongs colonization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Author summary The intestinal epithelium is a crucial biological interface, interacting with both commensal and pathogenic microorganisms. It’s lined with heavily glycosylated proteins and glycolipids which can act as both attachment sites and energy ...

Immunogenicity of a Rotavirus VP8* Multivalent Subunit Vaccine in Mice

open access: yesViruses
Rotavirus remains a significant public health threat, especially in low-income countries, where it is the leading cause of severe acute childhood gastroenteritis, contributing to over 128,500 deaths annually. Although the introduction of the Rotarix and RotaTeq vaccines in 2006 marked a milestone in reducing mortality rates, approximately 83,158 ...

Specificity and Affinity of Sialic Acid Binding by the Rhesus Rotavirus VP8* Core [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2002
ABSTRACT Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy demonstrates that the rhesus rotavirus hemagglutinin specifically binds α-anomeric N -acetylneuraminic acid with a K d of 1.2 mM. The hemagglutinin requires no additional carbohydrate moieties

The Impact of Methanol Concentration on Recombinant Protein Glycosylation in Pichia pastoris SuperMan5

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 18, Issue 12, December 2025.
The impact of methanol concentration during induction on N‐ and O‐linked glycosylation profiles was studied in a glycoengineered Pichia pastoris strain. Higher methanol concentrations led to higher mannose glycans suggesting that this variable can be used to manipulate protein quality during bioprocessing.

The Structure of Spiroplasma Virus 4: Exploring the Capsid Diversity of the Microviridae

open access: yesViruses
Spiroplasma virus 4 (SpV4) is a bacteriophage of the Microviridae, which packages circular ssDNA within non-enveloped T = 1 icosahedral capsids. It infects spiroplasmas, which are known pathogens of honeybees.
