Fast and Inexpensive Phenotyping and Genotyping Methods for Evaluation of Barley Mutant Population

open access: yesPlants, 2020
To further develop barley breeding and genetics, more information on gene functions based on the analysis of the mutants of each gene is needed. However, the mutant resources are not as well developed as the model plants, such as Arabidopsis and rice ...

Genetic variability for waxy genes in Argentinean bread wheat germplasm [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Biotechnology, 2009
Amylose and amylopectin are the two polysaccharides that constitute starch in bread wheat and the enzyme GBSSI (Granule-bound starch synthase I), also known as waxy protein, is responsible for amylose synthesis in storage tissues. Decrease of the amylose content in starch has been associated with the lack of waxy protein(s).

Characterization of Waxy microsatellite classes that are closely linked to the rice Waxy gene and amylose content in Thai rice germplasm [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2003
Sixty-eight strains belonging to two species of Oryza were characterized by using Wx microsatellite, (CT)n repeats that are closely linked to the rice Waxy gene.

Proposal of updated XYZ system for the production of hybrid wheat seed

open access: yesCzech Journal of Genetics and Plant Breeding, 2019
The following updates have been proposed for the XYZ system for the production of hybrid wheat: The waxy characteristics of the grain were used as a classifying mark.

MOLECULAR ANALYSIS OF WAXY GENE MARKERS IN SORGHUM CROSSES KD4 AND BONTEB GUNUNGKIDUL

open access: yesBiotropia: The Southeast Asian Journal of Tropical Biology
HIGHLIGHTS - Local sorghum crosses show unique fixation of the waxy starch gene allele - Only Wxc allele is expressed, while other waxy alleles are not detected - Waxy allele expression strongly relates to low amylose grain quality - Marker-based ...

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Use of the p-SINE1-r2 in inferring evolutionary relationships of Thai rice varieties with AA genome [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2006
In a previous study we described the prevalence and distribution in Thailand of the retroposon p- SINE1-r2, in the intron 10 of the waxy gene in cultivated and wild rice with the AA genome.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Validation of molecular markers for the analysis of genetic diversity of amylase content and gel consistency among representative rice varieties in Sri Lanka

open access: yesTropical Agricultural Research, 2015
Starch is the major storage compound in almost all cereals including rice (Oryza sativa L.) and is used as a primary source of energy for humans. Furthermore, it is the main determinant of the eating and cooking quality (ECQ) of rice as amylose content ...
