Seeds of change: The impact of Ethiopia's direct seed marketing approach on smallholders' seed purchases and productivity

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract While multiple factors explain low adoption rates of improved varieties by small‐scale farmers in sub‐Saharan Africa, a key supply‐side constraint is the limited availability of seed embodying new traits in the volume, quality, price, and timeliness required by farmers. This constraint is partly attributable to classical failures in the market

Sustainable Graphene Oxide–Intercalated Bentonite Composite for the Effective Removal of Imidacloprid From Water: Adsorption Performance, Isotherm, and Kinetics

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Water is a fundamental necessity for our existence, but its rapid contamination is causing devastating effects on the environment and health of living species worldwide. Adsorptive removal of pollutants is one of the popular water treatment techniques because of its simplicity, affordability, and the broad range of available adsorbents.

Registration of ‘Matterhorn’ Hard White Waxy Winter Wheat

open access: yesJournal of Plant Registrations, 2019
‘Matterhorn’ (Reg. No. CV‐1151, PI 687896) hard white winter waxy wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) was developed cooperatively by the USDA‐ARS and the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station and released in 2018. Matterhorn, a sibling of the hard red waxy cultivar Mattern, has white grain color and waxy (amylose‐free) endosperm starch.

Resilience Practices and Post‐Traumatic Growth Among Sudanese IDPs

open access: yesConflict Resolution Quarterly, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper we examine the resilience of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sudan who have endured various forms of suffering resulting from being targeted or trapped by militants involved in large‐scale violence. Upon escaping the conflict zones, the civilians exhibit strength, adaptability, and wisdom in the face of various threats to ...

Sustainable Hydrogen Production by Glycerol and Monosaccharides Catalytic Acceptorless Dehydrogenation (AD) in Homogeneous Phase

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Sustainable hydrogen production can be obtained from hydogen‐rich biomass‐derived organic molecules through Acceptorless Dehydrogenation (AD) reactions. Glycerol and sugars are available in large quantities from industry and can be successfully used as substrates in AD protocols, in the presence of tailored, selective, easily tunable and thermally ...

Study on physicochemical properties of purple waxy wheat starch

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Properties, 2021
Morphological features and physicochemical properties of purple waxy wheat 168 (PWW168) starch were compared with those of normal wheat and maize starches. The morphologies of PWW168 were found to be similar for normal wheat starch.
