Property optimization of Er/Yb-codoped LiNbO3 crystals for LNOI lasers and amplifiers

open access: yesAPL Materials
Lithium-niobate-on-insulator (LNOI) is regarded as an ideal platform for integrated photonics. As an essential part, active devices based on rare-earth (RE) doped LNOI have made significant progress, with erbium/ytterbium-codoped lithium niobate (Er/Yb ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

On Weak Truthmaking [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Informally speaking, a truthmaker is something in the world in virtue of which the sentences of a language can be made true. This fundamental philosophical notion plays a central role in applied ontology. In particular, a recent nonorthodox formulation of this notion proposed by the philosopher Josh Parsons, which we labelled weak truthamking, has been

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

SDE WEAK APPROXIMATION LIBRARY (SDE WA) (VERSION 1.0) [PDF]

open access: yes
In application of mathematical finance to practical problems, weak approximation of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) is one of the most important themes. In probabilistic approach to this problem, the Euler-Maruyama scheme which is a first-order ...

On Weak Flexibility in Planar Graphs

open access: yes, 2020
Recently, Dvo\v{r}\'ak, Norin, and Postle introduced flexibility as an extension of list coloring on graphs [JGT 19']. In this new setting, each vertex $v$ in some subset of $V(G)$ has a request for a certain color $r(v)$ in its list of colors $L(v ...

Suppressing laser-power noise with a multifunctional liquid crystal polarization grating in miniaturized optically pumped magnetometers

open access: yesMicrosystems & Nanoengineering
Optically pumped magnetometers (OPMs) enable high-resolution biomagnetic imaging, yet conventional single-beam designs are constrained by bulky, alignment-intensive polarization optics and susceptibility to laser-power noise.

Non-invasive imaging through dynamic scattering media via mutual coherence function transmission [PDF]

open access: yesAPL Photonics
Scattering imaging techniques are significant tools in biomedicine and underwater detection. Speckle cross correlation imaging of a moving object makes it possible to reconstruct hidden objects through random media.

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.
