Western blotting assay of transketolase concentration in human hemolysates

Analytical Biochemistry, 1988
Using a rabbit anti-human transketolase antiserum and Western blotting we can determine nanogram amounts of transketolase in human hemolysates quantitatively. Transketolase concentration in 18 apparently healthy subjects was 55.7 +/- 12.1 micrograms/g Hb (mean +/- SD). Transketolase concentration correlated positively with the enzyme activity both with

The line blot assay: Problems with titrating first and second antibodies for Western blot and immunohistochemistry assays?

Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation, 2006
We describe a technique designed to assess the optimal dilution of primary and secondary antibodies, to be used in Western blot, dot blot, the multi-antigen print immunoassay (MAPIA) and immunohistochemistry assays. The method that we call "line blot" is not an alternative but a practical, complementary tool for the above techniques that assures ...

The Diagnostic Dilemma of Otosyphilis: A New Western Blot Assay

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1990
Currently, the diagnosis of otosyphilis applies to any patient with otologic symptoms of unknown cause and a positive fluorescent treponemal antibody-absorption (FTA-ABS) test result. However, the FTA-ABS assay can have false-positive results and does not distinguish between active and treated disease.

Real-time bio-layer interferometry ubiquitination assays as alternatives to western blotting

Analytical Biochemistry, 2023
Ubiquitination is a crucial cellular pathway enabling normal cellular functions. Abnormalities in the ubiquitination process can lead to cellular dysfunction and cause a range of diseases. Efforts to screen and develop small molecule inhibitors targeting portions of the ubiquitination cascade require rapid and robust methods for detecting ...
