Estimating Network Kinetics of the MAPK/ERK Pathway Using Biochemical Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The MAPK/ERK pathway is a major signal transduction system which regulates many fundamental cellular processes including the growth control and the cell death.

A Molecular Analysis Of Prion Protein Expression In Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesMcGill Journal of Medicine, 2020
In Prion Diseases, misfolding of neuronal prion protein (PrPC) to a pathogenic isomer (PrPSC) is associated with neuronal death. Previous pathological studies have demonstrated increased immunoreactivity of PrPC at Aβ plaques in Alzheimer's Disease, and ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Human testis-expressed sequence 101 is limitedly distributed in germinal epithelium of testis and disappears in seminoma

open access: yesBiological Research, 2014
BACKGROUND: Testis-expressed sequence 101 (TEX101) was found to be highly expressed in testis and involved in acrosome reaction in previous studies. Recently, the metastasis suppressor function of TEX101 in cancer was disclosed, but the comprehensive ...

A Molecular Basis for Stabilization of the von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) Tumor Suppressor Protein by Components of the VHL Ubiquitin Ligase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The multiprotein von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) tumor suppressor (CBCVHL, Cul2-Elongin BC-VHL) and SCF (Skp1-Cul1/Cdc53-F-box protein) complexes are members of structurally related families of E3 ubiquitin ligases that use a heterodimeric module composed of a ...

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

A simple protocol for the subcellular fractionation of skeletal muscle cells and tissue

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2012
Background We describe a method for subcellular fractionation of mouse skeletal muscle, myoblast and myotubes to obtain relatively pure fractions of nuclear, cytosolic and mitochondrial compartments.

Sensitive detection of fluorescence in western blotting by merging images. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
The western blotting technique is widely used to analyze protein expression levels and protein molecular weight. The chemiluminescence method is mainly used for detection due to its high sensitivity and ease of manipulation, but it is unsuitable for ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Adenylyl Cyclase Type 8 Overexpression Impairs Phosphorylation-Dependent Orai1 Inactivation and Promotes Migration in MDA-MB-231 Breast Cancer Cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Orai1 plays a major role in store-operated Ca 2+ entry (SOCE) in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells. This channel is inactivated via different mechanisms, including protein kinase C (PKC) and protein kinase A (PKA)-dependent phosphorylation at ...
