ABSTRACT Mesenchymal stromal cell‐derived extracellular vesicles (MSC‐EV) hold promising potential for immunomodulation and tissue regeneration, especially for treating ischemia‐reperfusion injury (IRI). However, their therapeutic use is hindered by challenges in tissue targeting and incomplete understanding of their functional mechanisms.

A semi‐automated approach for early prenatal diagnosis is developed for low‐cellularity samples from coelocentesis by exploiting biotin/streptavidin interaction to functionalize electrospun mats with antibodies. With potential microfluidic integration, the resulting platform enables fetal cell capture, offering a strategy toward improved efficiency and

Wharton’s jelly absence: a possible cause of stillbirth
The umbilical cord is a structure that provides vascular flow between the fetus and the placenta. It contains two arteries and one vein, which are surrounded and supported by gelatinous tissue known as Wharton’s jelly.

This work presents a 3D hybrid tissue scaffold inspired by bone, incorporating collagen, fabricated using multiphoton lithography. The mechanical properties of collagen are tunable, and biodegradation allows for time‐dependent changes in geometry. The results demonstrate enhanced osteogenic differentiation of stem cells in our hybrid scaffolds.

Development of Human Umbilical Vessels in The Second Trimester of Pregnancy: Histological, Immunohistochemical and Morphometric Study [PDF]
Introduction: There are many publications describing structure of full term umbilical vessels, however, few studies in early gestation.Aim: To elucidate changes in microstructure of developing umbilical vessels in the second trimester of pregnancy ...

ABSTRACT Chronic diabetic foot ulcers and venous leg ulcers remain difficult to treat due to delayed healing and high complication rates. Biologic skin allografts derived from living or amniotic tissue provide extracellular matrix components, cytokines, growth factors and viable cells that facilitate tissue repair.

ABSTRACT Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nanoscale mediators of intercellular communication with diverse molecular cargoes that reflect their cell of origin. Advances in isolation, detection, and single‐particle analytics have revealed increasing molecular and functional heterogeneity, while exposing limitations in how EV identity and activity are ...

Abstract Stillbirths affect millions of pregnancies every year worldwide, and obstruction of the umbilical cord blood flow is one of the main causes of fetal death. This review provides a clinico‐pathological overview of cord abnormalities potentially associated with antepartum stillbirth, describing the mechanism determining the death and addressing ...
