Influence of climate on soil and wine bacterial diversity on a vineyard in a non-traditional wine region in Argentina wine region

open access: yes, 2021
Argentina is the fifth world-wide wine producer, with an area of emerging importance in the Southwest of Buenos Aires Province, where climatic conditions are rather challenging. We studied the variations in soil and wine bacterial diversity through three consecutive vintages, and how climatic conditions affected said diversity.

The Geography of Success: A Spatial Analysis of Export Intensity in the Italian Wine Industry

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper investigates the paradox of how Italy's fragmented, SME‐dominated wine industry achieves global export success. Moving beyond purely firm‐centric explanations, we test whether export intensity is spatially dependent, clustering geographically in regional ecosystems.

A Comprehensive Assessment and Benchmark Study of Large Atomistic Foundation Models for Phonons

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
We benchmark six large atomistic foundation models on 2429 crystalline materials for phonon transport properties. The rapid development of universal machine learning potentials (uMLPs) has enabled efficient, accurate predictions of diverse material properties across broad chemical spaces.

Solving Data Overlapping Problem Using A Class‐Separable Extreme Learning Machine Auto‐Encoder

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
The overlapping and imbalanced data in classification present key challenges. Class‐separable extreme learning machine auto‐encoding (CS‐ELM‐AE) is proposed, which is an enhancement of ELM‐AE that better handles overlapping data by clustering points from the same class together. Applying oversampling addresses imbalanced data.

Shapley Additive Explanation for Local Class Differentiation: Local Explainability for Class Differentiation in Classification Models

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
An instance‐level, model‐agnostic explanation of class differentiation is introduced through SHAP‐LCD, linking probability shifts to feature‐wise Shapley contributions. The method operates on tabular and image data and is released in a fully reproducible implementation, offering a transparent way to examine, at each instance, why predictive models ...

The climates of the world’s wine regions

open access: yesIVES Technical Reviews, vine and wine
The aim of this article is to describe the climates of the world’s wine regions and discuss implications of climate change for those regions. In doing so, we summarise a recent scientific journal article: Puga et al. (2022). We also incorporate insights from other work – part of which is first published here.
