Unveiling Endotypes in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Through Multiomic Analysis: Insights Into Cardiovascular and Renal Complications

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) shows clinical and molecular heterogeneity, and cardiovascular (CV) complications and lupus nephritis (LN) remain leading causes of morbidity and mortality. This study investigated whether omic profiling can reveal molecular endotypes linked to these outcomes.

Possible therapeutic repositioning of valproic acid: From epileptic seizures to acute kidney injury

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Valproic acid, an anticonvulsant, may be repositioned to prevent acute kidney injury due to ischemia followed by reperfusion. It preserves renal functions, electrolyte homeostasis and active sodium transport in kidney tubules, and blocks the onset of hypertension.

Conformational landscape of HIV-1 Env from closed to fully open

open access: yesNature Communications
The molecular mechanism of HIV-1 entry into host cells is governed by dynamic conformational changes to its envelope glycoprotein (Env), which are triggered by the engagement of the host receptor CD4 and coreceptors.

From anthelmintic to neuro‐oncology: A systematic review of mebendazole repurposing for brain tumour therapy

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Aim Mebendazole (MBZ), a benzimidazole anthelmintic with established clinical use, has emerged as a repurposing candidate for primary brain tumours due to its multimodal anticancer actions and central nervous system penetrance. This systematic review synthesizes preclinical and clinical evidence evaluating MBZ's efficacy, mechanisms of action ...

Hyperbranched poly‐L‐lysine surface‐engineered bioprosthetic heart valves with anti‐calcification, anti‐infection, and durability

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The challenges of bioprosthetic heart valves (BHV) with respect to calcification, infection, and poor durability are tackled by surface engineering of hyperbranched poly‐L‐lysine (HBPL), providing a translational solution to improve long‐term valve performance.

Integrated transcriptomic and methylome analysis reveals retinoic acid pathway activation after decitabine treatment in EBV-associated gastric cancer

open access: yesmBio
Epstein–Barr virus-associated gastric cancer (EBVaGC) accounts for ~9% to 10% of gastric cancers worldwide and is defined by a distinctive molecular profile, including extreme hypermethylation of the DNA.
