Characteristics of Timbers Dried Using Kiln Drying and Radio Frequency-Vacuum Drying Systems
Heavy hardwoods are difficult-to-dry timbers as they are prone to checking and internal stresses when dried using a conventional kiln drying system. These timbers are usually dried naturally to reach 15% to 19% moisture content with an acceptable defects.

How Bound Water Regulates Wood Drying [PDF]
For most wood-based product uses it is essential to remove a large part of the water content from wet or green (fresh-cut) wood, to reduce further dimensional variations under varying humidity conditions, improve its mechanical characteristics, and protect it from biological attacks.

Reversible and irreversible dimensional changes of heat-treated wood during alternate wetting and drying [PDF]
Spruce wood specimens were heat-treated in saturated water vapor (steaming) and in the absence of moisture (dry heating) at 120–180 °C, and their wet volumes were measured during alternate wetting and drying cycles.

Simulation of moisture transfer during wood vacuum drying
Vacuum techniques are commonly used in material drying applications as they provide good quality at fast rates. In this study, wood samples were dried under absolute pressure of 0.02 MPa at 80 °C to assess the drying characteristics.

Impact of Wetting–Drying Cycles on the Mechanical Properties and Microstructure of Wood Waste–Gypsum Composites [PDF]
Large amounts of wood waste are generated each year in the world. In an attempt to identify a good recovery option for those residues, wood waste from construction and demolition works were used as raw materials in gypsum plasters.
