The use of the writhing test in mice for screening different types of analgesics.
Archives internationales de pharmacodynamie et de therapie, 1984The prostaglandin synthesis inhibitors studied were highly potent analgesics against ATP and ACh-induced writhing, but slightly effective or ineffective against MgSO4-induced pain. Morphine also proved to be more effective against ATP and ACh than against MgSO4-induced writhing.

Interaction between Ukrain and Naltrexone in the writhing syndrome test in mice.
Drugs under experimental and clinical research, 1999The interaction between Ukrain and Naltrexone, a nonselective opioid receptor antagonist, was studied in the 'writhing syndrome' test in mice. Naltrexone (1 mg/kg s.c.) was administered i.p. 30 min before Ukrain (2.375, 4.75, 9.5 and 19 mg/kg). In addition, the antinociceptive properties of Ukrain and Naltrexone in 10-day treatment in mice were studied.

Antinociceptive mechanisms of Rosmarinus officinalis extract in mice using writhing test
2011Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) is a common household plant grows in many parts of the world, including Iran. Rosemary leaves are used in folk medicine as an antispasmodic, analgesic, diuretic and antiepileptic agent. The objective of this study was to investigate the antinociceptive mechanisms of rosemary extract using a writhing test as a model of ...

Antinociceptive activity of sildenafil and adrenergic agents in the writhing test in mice.
Pharmacological reports : PR, 2009The authors investigated the antinociceptive activity of sildenafil and adrenergic agents co-administered in the writhing test in mice. The intensity of nociception was quantified by the number of writhes occurring between 0 and 30 min after stimulus injection. Nontreated groups (NT) received acid intraperitoneally (ip) followed by sterile saline (ip).

Comparative analgetic testing of various compounds in mice using writhing techniques.
Arzneimittel-Forschung, 1979Anti-writhing assays to detect analgesia or specific activity against selected agonists were performed on albino mice. Acetylcholine Cl, bradykinin triacetate, phenylquinone, and serotonin creatinine sulfate were used as agonists. 10 compounds, including 5 standard analgetics, were tested against each agonist.

Effects of dopaminergic agents on visceral pain measured by the mouse writhing test.
Archives internationales de pharmacodynamie et de therapie, 1997The present study explored the role of the dopaminergic transmission in the mouse writhing test analgesia by examining the relative analgesic activity of indirect dopaminergic agonists (amphetamine and cocaine), a mixed D1/D2 direct agonist (apomorphine), and a direct D1 (SKF38393) and D2 (bromocriptine) dopaminergic agonist.

The effects of L-arginine, the physiological precursor of nitric oxide (NO), and inhibitors of NO-synthase on the antinociceptive action of Ukrain (4.75, 9.5, and 19.0 mg/kg i.p.) were investigated using the writhing syndrome test in mice. It was found that L-arginine (0.1 or 1.0 mg/kg i.p.) significantly decreased or enhanced the antinociceptive ...

The antinociceptive properties of Ukrain and of morphine in their 10 day treatment in mice were studied by the writhing syndrome test. It was found that the antinociceptive action of Ukrain after 10 days of treatment was similar to that of morphine (0.1 mg/kg s.c.) in the same period.
