Minimizing quantification uncertainty in nanoplasmonic platforms: Multifunctional MoS2‐integration for precise biomarker determination

open access: yesInfoMat, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
The multifunctional integration of MoS2 into the SERS platform addresses key limitations in accurate quantification. Atomically thin MoS2 reduces spot‐to‐spot variations via plasmonic calibration and improves quantification reliability by ensuring consistent signal changes with analyte concentration.

Age‐related changes of oxidative status and immune function in a long‐lived seabird

open access: yesJournal of Avian Biology, Volume 2026, Issue 2, March 2026.
Experimental studies in humans and laboratory species have shown that the decline of the immune system with age (immunosenescence) and the accumulation of oxidative damage to macromolecules are two key contributors to the onset and progression of the ageing process. Although laboratory models have provided important insights, the physiological basis of

Practical Applications of Secondary/Extractive Electrospray Ionization (SESI): A Versatile Tool for Real‐Time Chemical Analysis

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, Volume 45, Issue 2, Page 392-428, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT In the 1980s, researchers discovered the remarkable ability of electrospray plumes to effectively ionize gas‐phase molecules via secondary ionization. Around 20 years later—coinciding with the ambient mass spectrometry revolution—secondary electrospray ionization (SESI) and extractive electrospray ionization (EESI) coupled to mass spectrometry

Trans‐Omics Integration Reveals That the Kidney Contributes to Systemic Aging via Sexually Dimorphic Accumulation of Glycosphingolipids

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
Female‐specific renal GluCer accumulation disrupts mitochondrial quality control via a conserved purine‐mTORC1 pathway, triggering a wave of uremic toxins into the systemic circulation that constitutes a female‐biased vulnerability toward renal‐driven multiorgan senescence.

Epigenetic Regulation of the BDNF Gene by Molybdenum in 9 to 11‐Year‐Old Children: A Targeted Gene DNA Methylation Study

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 5, 12 March 2026.
This study examined associations between molybdenum (Mo) status and DNA methylation of the brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) gene in children aged 9–11 years. Dietary Mo intake was estimated from food records, and creatinine‐adjusted urinary Mo levels were quantified.
