Zingerone Alleviates Acetaminophen‐Induced Liver Damage by Regulating Oxidative Stress, Inflammation, Apoptosis, Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress, and Autophagy

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 8, August 2026.
Mechanism of action of zingerone on acetaminophen‐induced liver damage. ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to investigate the protective effect of zingerone (ZNG), an antioxidant agent, against acetaminophen (APAP)‐induced liver damage, which is used as an analgesic and antipyretic. For this purpose, twenty‐eight male rats were divided into four groups:

Isobavachin Attenuates Renal and Cardiac Injury in Chronic Hyperuricemia via Modulation of NF‐κB and NLRP3 Signaling Pathways

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 8, August 2026.
Isobavachin alleviates HUA‐induced oxidative stress, inflammation, and fibrosis in the kidney and heart, potentially through its dual role in promoting UA excretion and inhibiting NF‐κB signaling and NLRP3 inflammasome activation. ABSTRACT Hyperuricaemia (HUA) is a recognized risk factor for cardiovascular and renal diseases.

Barbaloin Attenuates Cisplatin‐Induced Hippocampal Neurotoxicity by Suppressing Oxidative Stress, Neuroinflammation, and Apoptosis: In Vivo and In Silico Evidence

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 8, August 2026.
Important Aloe vera phytonutrient, barbaloin, inhibits the neurotoxic effects of cisplatin on hippocampus, which involves reducing oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and apoptosis, thereby restoring the balance of neurotransmitters and cognition. The generated docking structures with 100‐ns molecular dynamics simulations show stable energy‐minimized ...

De novo or Salvage? Nucleotide Availability as a Driver of Bacterial Adaptation and Virulence

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, August 2026.
Bacterial pathogens survive in different host environments by switching between making nucleotides by de novo synthesis and scavenging them from the host. This flexibility supports growth and virulence making nucleotide metabolism an attractive therapeutic target.
