Surface segregation and the Al problem in GaAs quantum wells

open access: yes, 2018
Low-defect two-dimensional electron systems (2DESs) are essential for studies of fragile many-body interactions that only emerge in nearly-ideal systems. As a result, numerous efforts have been made to improve the quality of modulation-doped Al$_x$Ga$_{1-

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.

Mott-Kondo Insulator Behavior in the Iron Oxychalcogenides

open access: yes, 2015
We perform a combined experimental-theoretical study of the Fe-oxychalcogenides (FeO$\emph{Ch}$) series La$_{2}$O$_{2}$Fe$_{2}$O\emph{M}$_{2}$ (\emph{M}=S, Se), which is the latest among the Fe-based materials with the potential \ to show unconventional ...

Science‐Towards‐Technology Breakthrough in CO2 Electroreduction: Multiphysics, Multiscale, and Artificial Intelligence Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Electrochemical CO2RR is a key technology for converting CO2 into chemicals, but there remains a gap between “laboratory science” and “engineering practice” in current research. This review establishes a multi‐scale research framework, encompassing atomic‐level characterization, microenvironment regulation, external field‐assisted optimization, and AI ...

Nanostructure and dynamics of N-truncated copper amyloid-β peptides from advanced X-ray absorption fine structure

open access: yesIUCrJ
An X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) electrochemical cell was used to collect high-quality XAS measurements of N-truncated Cu:amyloid-β (Cu:Aβ) samples under near-physiological conditions.

Hybridized electronic states in potassium-doped picene probed by soft x-ray spectroscopies

open access: yes, 2012
The electronic structure of the unoccupied and occupied states of potassium (K)-doped and undoped picene crystalline films has been investigated by using the element-selective and bulk-sensitive photon-detection methods of X-ray absorption and emission ...

Single‐Atom Photocatalyst as Floatable Artificial Leaf for Upcycling Oceanic Plastic Waste

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
To resolve the catastrophic disaster of oceanic plastic pollution, the novel Ru single atom loaded ZnIn2S4 photocatalysts, in the forms of powder or floatable artificial leaf, were prepared for direct conversion of raw polypropylene plastic into valuable chemicals. The optimized catalyst exhibits exceptional performance, with a total formic/acetic acid

Factor Xa Inhibitors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Factor Xa represents an attractive target for antithrombotic drugs as blockade of factor Xa permits inhibition of both the extrinsic and intrinsic coagulation pathways. Several factor Xa inhibitors, such as rivaroxaban, apixaban and edoxaban, have been approved for certain conditions, and are also in clinical development for other indications.

Activating a Metallization Switch for Record Hydrogen Evolution in Single‐Atom Modified Polar MOF Piezocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Piezocatalytic hydrogen evolution enables the conversion of mechanical energy into chemical fuels, but its efficiency is constrained by a trade‐off between piezoelectric polarization and electronic conductivity. Strong piezoelectric polarization is essential for sufficient driving force, yet highly polar materials typically suffer from poor ...
