The human RBPome: From genes and proteins to human disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
RNA binding proteins (RBPs) play a central role in mediating post transcriptional regulation of genes. However less is understood about them and their regulatory mechanisms.

GPRC5B Identified by m5C meRIP‐Seq Suppresses Apoptosis in Osteosarcoma Through NSUN2‐Mediated RNA Methylation

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
We performed the first transcriptome‐wide profiling of m5C modifications in osteosarcoma, analyzing four pairs of tumor and adjacent normal tissues. We revealed that NSUN2 suppresses apoptosis in osteosarcoma cells by promoting GPRC5B m5C modification and expression.

Hypoxia increases RCC stem cell phenotype via altering the androgen receptor (AR)-lncTCFL5-2-YBX1-SOX2 signaling axis

open access: yesCell & Bioscience, 2022
Background Early studies indicated that the androgen receptor (AR) could promote renal cell carcinoma (RCC) development and metastasis, but its linkage to RCC progression under hypoxia, remains unclear.

Multi-omics integration reveals molecular networks and regulators of psoriasis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BackgroundPsoriasis is a complex multi-factorial disease, involving both genetic susceptibilities and environmental triggers. Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and epigenome-wide association studies (EWAS) have been carried out to identify genetic ...

Quantitative analysis of DNA‐GATA1 binding alterations linked to hematopoietic disorders

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Native holdup allows the quantitative determination of affinities between full‐length transcription factors and DNA. Mutations in either the protein or the DNA can modulate binding strength, which can be precisely quantified using this approach. Applied to GATA1, it revealed mutations that alter DNA binding.

Y-box binding protein 1/cyclin A1 axis specifically promotes cell cycle progression at G2/M phase in ovarian cancer

open access: yesScientific Reports
Y-box binding protein 1 (YBX1) promotes oncogenic transformation and tumor growth. YBX1 plays a role in regulation of cell cycle promotion via upregulation of cell cycle-related genes.

Export of miRNAs from activated macrophages is cooperative and HuR‐dependent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 600, Issue 5, Page 693-709, March 2026.
This study uncovers a new mechanism for miRNA export regulation in mammalian cells, driven by the RNA‐binding protein HuR. In macrophages, HuR cooperatively binds with miRNAs to export both low‐ and high‐affinity substrates, thereby influencing macrophage activation.

The m5C reader Ybx1 regulates embryonic cortical neurogenesis by promoting progenitor cell cycle progression.

open access: yesPLoS Biology
The reversible epitranscriptomic mark, 5-methylcytosine (m5C) modification, is implicated in numerous cellular processes, but its role in neural development remains largely unexplored.

Quantitative mass spectrometry and PAR-CLIP to identify RNA-protein interactions

open access: yes, 2012
Systematic analysis of the RNA-protein interactome requires robust and scalable methods. We here show the combination of two completely orthogonal, generic techniques to identify RNA-protein interactions: PAR-CLIP reveals a collection of RNAs bound to a ...

Discovery of noncanonical translation initiation sites through mass spectrometric analysis of protein N termini [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Translation initiation generally occurs at AUG codons in eukaryotes, although it has been shown that non-AUG or non-canonical translation initiation can also occur.
