Duck Orbivirus and Egg Production: A Newly Identified Duck Orbivirus Is the Etiological Agent of Egg Production Decline in Chinese Breeder Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Field samples from breeder duck farms with egg‐production decline were subjected to viral detection, genome sequencing, and virus isolation. Experimental infection demonstrated that duck orbivirus (DORV) causes a significant and persistent reduction in egg production in breeder ducks.

Silky Fowl (Gallus gallus domesticus) Dietary Supplementation with Dried Red Pepper (Capsicum annuum): Effects on Egg Quality, Blood Biochemical Parameters, and Egg Storage Stability

open access: yesPoultry
Egg yolk coloration influences consumer perceptions of table eggs. Red pepper (Capsicum annuum) is a known dietary source of carotenoids, which enhances yolk pigmentation, but its effects in silky fowl (SF) remain unexplored.

Marigold and Orange Skin as Egg Yolk Color Promoting Agents

open access: yesInternational Journal of Poultry Science, 2006
The research was conducted with natural ingredients and orange skin in the diet of laying pullets to determine the suitability as pigmenting agents of egg yolk for laying chicken The influence of tes t ingredients on production characteristics of laying pullets, internal and external quality characteristics of eggs were investigated simultaneously. The

CTP Ontology: A Semantic Model for Structuring Cultural Thematic Paths

open access: yesJournal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract A thematic path enhances the appreciation of cultural heritage by connecting diverse cultural objects through shared themes. This study introduces the Cultural Thematic Path (CTP) Ontology, designed to support the creation, organization, description, publication, and management of thematic paths within the GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives,

The Effect of Grass Silage on Color of Egg Yolk

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1940
Abstract THE use of grass silage in the poultry diet has been under investigation at the Kansas Agricultural Experiment Station since the spring of 1934. Different methods have been used for preserving young oat grass cut when or before the first joints appeared. While the silage made at this early growth stage and by the method used has not been of

Placental crises: disruptive selection and maternal under‐investment as the foundations of mammalian placental evolution and dysfunction

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Among the vertebrates, mammals are notable for the dominance of live birth and placental nutrition. The structural diversity of the mammalian placenta is remarkable, despite sharing a single common ancestor and conserved physiological functions.

Composition, Color, Microbiology, and Emulsifying Capacity of Egg Yolk and Ova Yolk Processed With or Without Follicles

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1987
Abstract Ova yolk preparations with follicles removed, follicles intact, and strained intact follicles were compared for composition, emulsifying capacity, color, and microbiological profile with egg yolks obtained from shell eggs. The strained intact follicle-containing preparation had significantly lower moisture than all other preparations.

The Influence of Drosophila Spire and Myosin V During Mid‐Oogenesis Is Independent of Their Direct Interaction

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cooperativity between cytoskeletal proteins is crucial for spatiotemporal coordination in biological processes, like oogenesis. In mammalian and Drosophila oogenesis, proper assembly and function of actin networks require coordination between actin assembly factors Spire and formins, as well as actin‐associated proteins like myosins and Rab ...
