Icariin Enhances the Enzymatic Activity of N‐acetylgalactosaminidase to Augment Akkermansia Abundance in Gut Microbiota for Improved PD‐1 Blockade Efficacy in Tumor Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Icariin promoted the growth of Akk by enhancing the activity of N‐acetylgalactosaminidase (Amuc_0920), which enhanced mucin utilization and provided a favorable nutrient environment for bacterial growth. This icariin‐mediated enrichment of Akk further reshaped the tumor microenvironment and promoted CD8+ T cell infiltration, ultimately synergizing with

The upregulation of lamin A/C as a compensatory mechanism during tight junction disruption in renal tubular cells mediated by calcium oxalate crystals

open access: yesCurrent Research in Toxicology
Calcium oxalate monohydrate (COM), the most important crystal causing kidney stone disease, upregulates lamin A/C but downregulates zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) in renal tubular cells.

A NeuroD1 AAV‐Based Gene Therapy for Functional Brain Repair in Alzheimer's Disease‐Like Non‐Human Primate Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study tests NeuroD1 AAV‐based gene therapy in a non‐human primate Alzheimer's disease model. The therapy prevents neuronal damage, inhibits hippocampal atrophy, and reduces neuroinflammation. It also repairs vascular and blood‐brain barrier damage, restores cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers, enhances hippocampal glucose metabolism, and improves ...

Piperazine‐Functionalized Nanoparticles Enable Oral Insulin Delivery in Obese Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biologics have gained prominence as a rapidly advancing therapeutic modality for a diverse spectrum of medical conditions. Nonetheless, they are predominantly administered parenterally due to poor absorption through the gastrointestinal tract. Additionally, repeated injections of biologics such as insulin cause injection pain, leading to dose ...

Expression and Clinical Significance of ZO-1 in Patients with Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesChinese Journal of Lung Cancer, 2011
Background and objective It has been proven that the expression of ZO-1 (zonula occluden-1) was correlated with the growth and metastasis of cancer.

Tight junction protein changes in irritable bowel syndrome: the relation of age and disease severity [PDF]

open access: yesThe Korean Journal of Internal Medicine
Background/Aims The etiology of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is associated with intestinal mucosal barrier damage. However, changes in the tight junction (TJ) proteins in IBS have not been fully elucidated.

An Activity‐Dependent NEPAS–PTX3 Axis Links Neurovascular and Myelin Deficits to Cognitive Impairment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An activity‐dependent pathway links prefrontal circuit hypoactivity to cognitive impairment. Reduced PVA–mPFC activity upregulates NEPAS, which suppresses PTX3 secretion, leading to impaired angiogenesis, myelin deficits, and memory decline. Rescue is achieved by NEPAS knockdown or chemogenetic circuit activation.

Tumor‐Derived Exosomal TAGLN2 Promotes Metastasis by Inducing Vascular Permeability and Angiogenesis via the NRP1/SEMA4D/YAP Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gastric cancer‐derived exosomal TAGLN2 is identified as a key mediator of vascular reprogramming, with significantly elevated levels detected in patient serum. Independent of canonical SEMA4D signaling, it nucleates a cytoplasmic TAGLN2/NRP1/SEMA4D ternary complex that dually activates YAP, promoting angiogenesis, vascular dysfunction, and metastasis ...

Cortactin-dependent control of Par1b-regulated epithelial cell polarity in Helicobacter infection

open access: yesCell Insight
Cell polarity is crucial for gastric mucosal barrier integrity and mainly regulated by polarity-regulating kinase partitioning-defective 1b (Par1b). During infection, the carcinogen Helicobacter pylori hijacks Par1b via the bacterial oncoprotein CagA ...
